Love him or hate him, respect or disrespect him, He's done a GREAT JOB.

Right. We lost the super cup, Had a chance to win the PL, FA CUP and LEAGUE CUP but we lost it all..

But let's remember that we started to have a bad season even before he arrived.

RAFAEL BENITEZ.

3rd place, Europa League title.

Made Torres look better, Made Luiz a world class midfielder AND defender (He wasn't defending well before),

Helped Lampard break the record.

Won us a very tough game. Everton and Stoke City away,

Came back against United at OT, Then beat then twice in a row, Home and away....

He had a hard job to do. With a game every 3 days, With the fans not behind You.... With all the pressure on You to win a trophy and finish in the top 4...

He's done A BRILLIANT JOB.
professional, Tactical genius.

Yea, He talked some shit about us, But it's from the past.

For now, He's the manager than really did everything he could to achieve things for us.

THANK YOU RAFAEL BENITEZ. I Will always admire You, Unlike many Chelsea fans that still boo You.

Great work. I Wish You all the best.

KTBFFH!

Disagree. He has done an ok job, bad at times, better at other times.

All in all I wouldn't say "great job", because we dont play too well, we lost too many important games, we barely made it to the top 4 and the Europa League is not such a major trophy, although it was important for our players.

Respect him, and good luck to him with his next team!

Why do we need a new thread for Rafael Benitez?

Let alone a deluded one, that conviniently doest mention Corinthians, Swansea, QPR, Southampton, Reading, Liverpool, etc..

"But let's remember that we started to have a bad season even before he arrived."

Despite the cups before the season properly got underway and the CL exit I thought our other cups and league campaign were going just fine.

"3rd place, Europa League title."

We're not even guaranteed 3rd place yet.

"Made Torres look better, Made Luiz a world class midfielder AND defender (He wasn't defending well before),"

What, helped him look better as in encouraged him to get a haircut? What? Luiz is far from world class in any position currently; he's too inconsistent. (He was defending well before. He simply defends a bit better now. Playing him in midfield was also no tactical genius considering how many fans have been calling for it since his arrival.)

"Helped Lampard break the record."

A complete fallacy.

"Won us a very tough game. Everton and Stoke City away,"

And fucked up vs. the likes of Southampton and Reading.

"He's done A BRILLIANT JOB."

So it's gone from 'great' to 'brilliant'. . . for... what, guiding us to the 2nd-rate trophy in Europe?

"Yea, He talked some shit about us, But it's from the past."

Hitler did some bad things in the past. He shouldn't magically be forgiven or have his ways forgotten.

(If you can't tell, I despise these Chelsea pages on Facebook which were started by people who became fans this year etc.)

I think he's deserved a warm welcome and a thanks on Sunday.

He has had some highs, but he's also had some lows. Lampard should have played more and he did make many tactical blunders during games.

but he has won the europa league and got us champions league football next season. exactly what we asked for. Doesn't matter how he did it, but he got it done.

I hope he gets a warm welcome and send off on Sunday, he has deserved it.

No our league campaign wasn't going fine, we couldn't win after the Man utd game and with City up next for RDM that would have been another definite loss. People keep bringing up the stupid "we were 4 points behind" bullshit, but weren't we up like 4 points on United? then all of sudden we were behind and it would have only gotten worse. Maybe we might have finished in top 3 with RDM, no one knows now, but Benitez has done the job which he was appointed for and that is to finish in the top 4.

And about tough games, that is quite right, we've done well under Benitez, but only to screw up in the little games. But i believe that is more than to the squad than anything - against teams that park the bus we have a problem, our strikers and team in general just weren't clinical enough in a lot of those games only to then concede a random goal.

All in all i think Rafa has done a good job - everyone here was shitting it and saying we wouldn't make top 4 in february, he got us that and also a trophy...

4 points behind united is still 4 points behind united. You can say well we were 4 points clear, but then you have to surely give credit for getting there in the first place. RDM's win record is still great, so i don't see how you can see, this game would have resulted in a definite loss etc. How do you know he wouldn't have upturned it himself.

All you can say is we made the change and just got away it, so it won't have an impact on next season. If you scratch 4 points off what we have, then i can guarentee you there would be very little in the way of thanks for rafa.

No its not, 4 points behind is one of those cases where numbers lie. It wasn't just a 'mere' 4 points, there was an 8 point turnaround in the space of 4 games, 3 of which where against midtable teams like West brom, Liverpool and Swansea. And our very next game was against the reigning champions.

You could look at the various spells of rafa in charge, where we looked beyond terrible. Just because we had 3 games in a row where we underperformed doesn't mean that we would lose the next one. Rafa took charge and we had to 0-0's. There is no way of knowing RDM wouldn't have bettered that.

Like i said, we got there in the end, so it all ended well, and we won a trophy, but that doesn't mean that RDM couldn't have done the same thing or better. Job done, both parties can seperate and be relieved with how the season ended.
