AndersonBLUE 819
For me and everyone else here I feel he needs to step up his game next season to be considered a great player. Good first season but needs to follow in Mata's footsteps and kick it up a gear. Hopefully Jose can improve his football
Dion 2,476
I honestly expect a lot more from Oscar. I'm hoping he can deliver at least the level he has when playing for out NT next season.Btw, in the Adidas video they translated that he would like to stay in Chelsea for "some years". I'm not a native english speaker but for me "some years" might give the impression he wants to move somewhere in the middle-long term, that he expects an end to his relationship with Chelsea in the future, but what he actually said in portuguese is "a lot of years", which is way more indefinite time. Some years sounded pretty weird haha. Good to know he said "A lot of years"!
Popular Post! Jase 43,479 Posted May 26, 2013 Popular Post! Share Posted May 26, 2013 It will be nice if and when people evaluate Oscar's performance this season take several factors into account before just (sometimes blindly) passing judgment.1. First season in English football.2. Move from South America to Europe.3. The need to adjust to environment around (we should be thankful that Luiz, Ramires & even Piazon are around to help him settle in. otherwise, he could have struggled really badly).4. Played over 70 games for club and country this past year without any real rest.5. Been used out of position or in position that he's not the most comfortable at. KonohasOrangeFlash 2,607
Anyone care to fill me in on Countinho? I had heard nothing about him until comparisons started being made on this thread? I don't know where they have come from. Liverpool fans or us...?

They have been making noise about it because Coutinho has been tearing up the (smaller) teams and some here aren't satisfied with Oscar for not exactly doing the same (when their style of play and role is completely different!). OneMoSalah 8,886
Coutinho is good but hes hardly on Oscar's level. Anyway anyone else noticed that when Oscar played a more central role vs City he was much better than when he played right or left wing? Stats 7,142
Even I was critical of Oscar earlier in the season but coming towards the end of the season I definitely think he improved. He looked good on the wings even though it is not his main position, his body balance also improved and added more goals. Hope he kicks on next season. Leif 6,006
He hasn't played for us yet without having a proper month or longer rest, has he? He joined us right after his work in Brazil and got started in the league right away.I wonder what godly things he can do after a long rest

Rmpr 8,977
Oscar could be the second youngster player to wear Brazil's legendary #10, after Pelé!World Cups:1950 - Jair da Rosa Pinto, 291954 - PInga, 301958 - Pelé, 171962 - Pelé, 211966 - Pelé, 251970 - Pelé, 291974 - Rivellino, 281978 - Rivellino, 321982 - Zico, 291986 - ZIco, 331990 - Silas, 241994 - Raí, 291998 - Rivaldo, 262002 - Rivaldo, 302006 - Ronaldinho, 262010 - Kaká, 282014 - Oscar, 22* Strike, Stingray, Dion and 1 other

Stingray 9,441
I have no doubt, he is good enough to wear it and he has no competition...I agree! Personally i think he had adaptation issues a bit. Its true that it can be hard. Hazard had a shitty period as well before and around new year. ... Even EPL Players that came in felt a form rebound: Moses, Ba ..... Torres ( )For Oscar: being world class is just in his DNA.... So he is on my favorite team for next year! Rmpr
Hutcho 8,443
He is kind of in a bad situation where he is on one of the few teams were he won't be able to play his favourite position. I don't think we can keep playing him on the right wing as a regular thing, so adapting him to more of a CM, may be the best way to get him into the first 11. It may not utilise all his skills, but Mata, is only 24 and still getting better and is just something else so i can't see him really getting that spot of him any time soon. Could play CM, then AM when Mata is rested or whatever. The only place to be
DanishBlue 426
Mata is 25 - minor detail.I agree with you. If we were to play a 4-3-3 he would maybe be able to fit in better. It would be such a shame not to have Oscar in the starting xl. I love him as a player and he is too good to be on the bench - with time he is going to be worldclass so we just have to play him imo Pascal Newton
Pascal Newton 33
We could always change our formation if when Mourinho comes. I don't think Mata would suffer as much as people think he would. GhanaBoy

Hutcho 8,443
May as well try and play him in a deeper role. That way he can get consistent game time and should be able to do a great job for us, as realistically it is unlikely he is gonna be our first choice AM. And i think his skills are more suited to playing at CM rather than wide on the right. Blue-in-me-Veins

And it's wired cuz that's exactly what I envisioned of him when he first arrived (playing in CM) It was a shame for him really but he didn't pout about it, and just got on with it and still contributed greatly,, props to him. But next season playing in the pivot is a must. Hutcho
