Very Discipline in his area tonight,,it's really depends on who's his partner in CB. hopes Cahill can improve as good as Silva tonight,,and DDR become our Gustavo then Cech can enjoy more and more cleansheet next season....

If i didn't know anything about him and i watched him only for Brazil, i would think he's easily top 5 CB's in the world.

He's good for us, but for Brazil he's a different beast - helps that he has an awesome partner i guess.

you know, I remember the few games when he played alongside Terry, before the injuries and subsequent dip in form, and always thought that was a perfect duo--even better than Thiago and David (both who aren't that great in the air).

Either JT is coming back next season or we will need a fit replacement; we just don't have another player who can provide the same characteristics, who can sit next to a towering striker and stop him inside the six-yard box.

He just needs a world class manager, and he got that in brazilian nt. :whistling:

Think he is all but set to stay now at Chelsea thanks to his brilliant tournament with Brazil unless he do something horrible in pre-season to piss Jose off. Hopefully we see more of his performance yesterday, if he keeps that up and still keep his flair trade then he will be the best CB in the world.

Finally people are starting to realise what has been obvious to me and alot of other Chelsea fans that Luiz is a world class CB! he is not a midfielder but a top class defender! finally more football fans around the world are starting to realise this also!

sad thing is though alot of people still dont want to give him credit and admit he is a top class CB, some people just cant admit they were wrong! alot of so called experts who get paid to talk/write about football will hopefully start to give him the credit he deserves next season!

He is seriously outstanding! Jose must be really pleased with what he has seen from Luiz and Jose will only make him even better!

What the fuck? I'm watching this gif for 100th time and I still don't get it.

There are so many things you need to kick out the ball like that, only few world class defenders have them.

He managed to run so fast that he caught up with the pace of the ball, then amazing positioning and then precisely kicked the ball out with such technique that it didn't reflect off the post in goal.

In my opinion. That's fucking world class. David Luiz hats off. Fuck haters.

I'm not going to defend the haters, because there are no haters. Not a single Chelsea supporter will have been surprised at his ability to make that clearance. In fact nothing he does surprises me anymore because he is that gifted a player.

The issue some people have (and I've echoed this sentiment before) is his focus in certain matches. He is a big-game player in the truest sense of the word, but occasionally he can wander off in games that he might not think are that important. That is almost certainly something that will come with age and I imagine Jose will focus on this aspect of his game too, but I think this is the reason why some people still have a question mark over him. Instances like the mistake in the last game at home to Everton or bodychecking a player when the game is over at home to Brentford just give some people cause for thought.

But I am starting to think that based on his improvements in his game in recent years (simple stuff like putting the ball into the stands rather than trying to play it out when it's unwise too) that he could well become one of the top CBs around.

Those type of saves have been made by Ashley Cole numerous times, it's great to see Luiz pull off a save like that as well. The replay doesn't do the clearance justice because it's slowed down a bit - fact is that is easily the best Defensive Contribution a player has made during the Confederation's Cup. I've seen Luiz have stormers for us, but the English Media continues to treat him as a mistake waiting to happen but specially since January he has been one of our best players. I hope that he stays with us for many more years, one day wearing the armband - because he is captain material in the future.
