I second that, but the little paragraph i read his love has been ignited by Lampard.

Hey not just him but many Chelsea fans, because the past few years with Mourinho, Conte and Sarri. The constant drama and shenanigans.

Lampard is a breath of a fresh air with the youth and the way he behaves.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/11/22/exclusive-roman-abramovich-rules-selling-chelsea/

Roman Abramovich has ruled out any possibility of selling Chelsea, with friends insisting his love affair with the club has been reignited by Frank Lampard's revolution, The Daily Telegraph can disclose.

Two close associates confirmed the club was effectively off the market as investigations by this newspaper established no serious offers were advanced in the 18 months since a deal was first mooted when his UK visa expired.

A Middle East-based consortium, speaking on condition of anonymity, is the latest potential investor to claim it entered talks with third-party representatives claiming to be acting on Abramovich's behalf.

However, the group, which claims it was quoted £2.5 billion for the Russian's shares, has told Telegraph Sport it got cold feet over potential complications relating to a proposed £1.2bn redevelopment of Stamford Bridge.

The consortium cited Chelsea Pitch Owners PLC, an independent group which owns the stadium freehold, as the "poison pill" in any takeover. The group anticipates difficulties in negotiations with CPO during any relocation from the West London site, even on a temporary basis while redevelopment took place.

Abramovich, meanwhile, has subsequently lost interest in any sale, and is said to be thrilled by the progress of the side under Lampard, who has guided Chelsea to third in the Premier League table despite being unable to spend a penny in transfer funds due to a Fifa embargo. The club - currently fighting the sanctions at the sport's appeal courts in Switzerland - travel to Manchester City on Saturday night with a one-point advantage over the Premier League champions.

"Any Chelsea is off the the table as far as Roman is concerned," an associate said. "He is genuinely very pleased with how things are. Chelsea's academy is being promoted and this is what he has wanted for some time and it’s finally working."

The source claimed, contrary to public perceptions, he is "not so bothered about actually winning trophies now, but wants to be up there with a young team playing good football and not costing him a fortune".

Meanwhile, the potential Middle East bidder, now exploring investment elsewhere in European football, claimed they were approached early last year with information that Abramovich was keen to listen to offers.

"We had a really good look at it," a representative for the consortium said. "The price of £2.5bn was not unreasonable, but the redevelopment of Stamford Bridge would have taken years to negotiate and cost us another £1.2bn. The situation with the pitch was ultimately the poison pill."

Abramovich had already rejected a bid for his club from Britain’s richest man, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the chairman and CEO of petrochemicals giant Ineos. Silver Lake, a US private equity firm that owns shares in Tesla and Alibaba, also reportedly made an unsuccessful approach for a minority stake.

At Chelsea, senior figures are now growing increasingly optimistic that he will return to the stadium redevelopment shelved in May last year "due to the current unfavourable investment climate". His visa wrangle was immediately assumed to be the main reason behind pulling the plug, but sources close to the Russian always said the financial situation surrounding the development during Brexit was the main concern.

Should the new stadium happen, he too will be under pressure to keep Chelsea's powerful CPO happy. The board was established in 1993 as a block against a developer ever being able to acquire the potentially lucrative freehold and close down the club, and it has consistently resisted any offers from Abramovich, since his 2003 takeover, to take full control of the stadium. In October 2011, just months before the club failed in a bid to buy the site of Battersea Power Station, the club was narrowly defeated in a bid to buy the shares. A source at CPO said the subject had not been revisited in recent years and relations with the club are as close as they have been in the Abramovich era.

Abramovich, now 52, will continue to run Chelsea while away from London. He took Israeli citizenship in 2017, but is spending the majority of his time in Russia again. He has not set foot inside Stamford Bridge since.

Friends say he could travel to the UK on his Israeli passport, but he remains sore at becoming collateral damage in the feud between the Foreign Office and Russia, which erupted after the Salisbury poisonings. Sources close to the Russian say he has not had a single conversation with the British Government in the past 18 months, and he has little hope that the issue will be resolved after the General Election. As The Telegraph previously disclosed, he is among four Russian oligarchs still lying low.

However, Abramovich's recent investments suggest he is not holding a grudge against British institutions. As well as being happy with recent progress made by Chelsea on the pitch, a multi-million pound donation was sent to London's Imperial War Museum last year. His contribution to new Holocaust Galleries scheduled for completion in 2021 were celebrated on Wednesday at an exclusive event attended by Buck, Cesar Azpilicueta, Petr Cech and Holocaust survivor Zigi Shipper.

Last year Abramovich was said to have taken on New York-based Raine Group, a merchant bank which helped Manchester City’s Abu Dhabi ownership sell a 13 per cent stake to Chinese investors in 2015. A friend of Abramovich said that talk that he was willing to sell was overstated.

Interesting if true. I always wanted this for a while, but the manager we would appoint was not good for this. Now that they have a manager lets see if his word is true when things are not going well....
