I have started to today still in a bit of disbelief. Looking at the midfield options is difficult right now, but I am sure the club have worked it all out, and which midfielder they will get 20 goals a season from now

He came as a young Hammer with some promise and with sheer hard work, dedication and professionalism, he has become a real Chelsea man, achieved legendary status and leaves as a true world class performer who has won everything in the club game for our beloved Chelsea.

Never will we see such tenure, achievements and this is why Frank Lampard is the best I've seen in Blue

amidst 13 trophy infested years.

He also deserves credit for pushing himself even harder after Roman bought the club. He was by no means untouchable, but he simply made it so that even though we could buy any player on the planet we didn't need to replace him.

He's not the most technically gifted player I've ever seen (probably Zola, maybe Hazard), not the fastest (Terry Phelan still probably, although his hamstrings couldn't take it) and probably not the most elegant player (Neil Shipperley easily ....closely followed by Ballack who was just the most graceful player I've seen) but no-one I've seen from any club could time a run into the box like him. If Makelele defined the DM position for a generation, then surely Frank perfected the late-arriving, goalscoring midfielder role.

..and the 20+ goals a season wont be matched any time soon. Also if he had a crap game, you knew he'd be back the next one and score.

The other thing I liked about him were the post match interviews. The interviewer would undoubtably ask obvious or simplistic questions with which lampard would not patronise, but answer with a twinkle in his eye that said 'you thick cunt'.

With his intelligence, I am more than sure he will make it to a top manager. He has spoken about this role and his badges quite a lot. The only thing, though, I am not sure whether I would want him at Chelsea. I would hate, hate to see him sacked. And honestly, we do it a quite a lot.

Even in the interviews with him, you could feel how he thinks about an answer and then puts it so well. Probably the smartest man on the football pitches. His IQ also allows him to enter Mensa, right? An exceptional man on and off the pitch, the best possible model for young boys. Young boys of all weights

I shed a tear last night.

Thank you is just not enough for this man. 13 years of joy, pride, happiness but also grief and sadness, we've been through it all together. Frank, you are not just a player, for me you are a great person, great role-model and a true gentleman to look up to. I will tell stories to my grandchildren about a certain Sir Frank Lampard (because that is what you are, Sir Frank). I wanted you to kick your last football at Chelsea, but somehow it just wasn't meant to be. Anyway, this is not a goodbye, I'm sure you will be back soon where you belong.

Cannot believe this thread has to be moved into the 'Ex-Blues' section. Guess Lampard leaving was gonna happen sooner or later but it's gonna feel quite indifferent and even alien like watching the team without Lampard being around. Almost impossible to even think of a word to describe what Lampard means as a player (and person) to Chelsea. Thank you Frank. You're an absolute legend.

It should be, but unfortunately the number is too "small". Unlike 25 (Zola) and most likely 26 (Terry).
