Offer him the bloody contract!

I just wouldn't be able to see him leave when he is clearly still being such a threat for the opposition. He needs just 11 goals to become the best goalscorer in the history of the Chelsea Football Club. He may get it this season, he would surely achieve it next year. HE SIMPLY CAN'T LEAVE CHELSEA FC! He loves this place, the stadium, the fans, every single part of it. Make us and him happy, SIGN HIM UP!

How much should we be offering and for how long?

Is it verboten for one to suggest that beyond his two goals, he had a pretty average game today?

I actually thought it was his worst game in a while (his passing had been great, but he was pressured a lot and made some poor passes especially in the first half) but he scored two goals and we won 2-1 so overall, that's still a fantastic game. As for how much and how long, none of us know what he's asking for, so it's impossible to comment really but I highly doubt that his demands are so crazy, Chelsea couldn't possibly afford them.

bypassed in the first half hour but soon grew in prominence. got in the faces of those everton mids later on. started badly but i don't think the goals are 'hiding' a bad performance.

I agree with that. It wasn't a bad performance, but he's been excellent recently without scoring and the rest of his game was worse today than it's been recently. BTW, just saw this stat...

Chelsea with Lampard this season-11 games-10 wins

Without Lampard-8 games, 1 win.

Give him 12 months with an option for another 12 based on appearances. Same with Cole. I'm sure both would get at least 20 appearances or whatever the contract appearances would be. Lampard is a decent option to throw on when we need a goal, he will be used more as a squad player but still a good one at that.

I bet you weren't saying that when Hazard was convinced to come here instead of United or City.

The situation with Torres is different to Lampard, Lampard is out of contract this summer, Torres is not.

Im all for getting Torres off the wagebill but we need to find a buyer.

Doesn't matter.

Our fucking board convinced Torres to stay after CL finals.

They started this season with ONLY him as striker.

How can you start a season with only Torres as striker when it is clear that he is bad? Even if he was good, he'd need some backup. How can you explain that?

And buying Hazard doesn't show that our board is capable. They just offered him more money than others and luckily we became champions at that time so we were the most attractive destination for him.

On how much p/w? It's tough for a guy who was a top earner to then take a pay cut and it does affect the way people act around one another. Plus let's be honest, he'll still be on around £100K p/w along with Cole which is around £10 million p/a on the wage bill of a club who made just £1 million profit in the first year of FFP.

Plus at some point you've got to look at replacing him and next year we'll have Oscar, De Bruyne, McEachran and Chalobah all possibly looking for that spot in midfield alongside Mikel, Ramires and maybe Luiz.

Cole is a different issue in that regard because he's still one of the best in the world on his day (which aren't as consistent as they once were)and it's hard to say that Bertrand and Van Aanholt are capable of replacing him. But we've all seen him hobbling around the pitch after games - that doesn't inspire much confidence in giving him a two-year contract.
