Superblue 6,372
According to reports it was 22. 34 is the with the contract he signed...massive wages. It's kinda dumb to put it like that, cause if we go by that then Chelsea payed 100 million for Torres. 50 mill to buy and another 50 million for his contract and wages.....Sky Sports are saying the 'fee' is £34m. I cannot believe Fernandinho's wages would be just £12m over the course of his contract, as Shakhtar wouldn't have paid him peanuts.£34m does sound realistic. His buyout clause is £42.5m, Shakhtar are under no pressure to sell, and we know from trying to negotiate for Willian that they don't sell cheap and are hard negotiators. Leif 6,006
Matic currently reminds me of Ballack. His role is really restricted at the moment though but I think if he was given more freedom in a new system other people would start seeing the comparison far more clear. As long as 'pivots' are popular though or he's deployed as a defensive midfielder I fear he'll reach the heights of Khedira or one of the Bender brothers and not Ballack or Essien which I genuinely think he has a chance at. BlueLyon 9,359
He is underrated player here on tc. Easily better than Capoue butI dont know if he is solution to our midfield. Atm i would prefer De rossi but Matic has potenial. He is not worth 30mio though.
Rmpr 8,977
I think we'll probably bring back a couple of players from loan and maybe end up buying a few more players. I don't see the point in a massive spending spree. We have a lot of talent already and a lot of it is young and improving. We just need to add to it rather than tearing down and rebuilding. If I had my druthers, we'd do something like-Out: Torres (we just need to move on), Marin, In: A striker like Cavani, Jovetic, Dzeko, etc...don't really care. A right winger like Di Maria or similar, and a central midfielder if we stick to a 4-2-3-1. (Someone like Coentrao would be useful long-term as well. He doesn't need the same funds as he did in 2004 to compete because our current squad has more talent now than it did back then. In 2004 he spent £140m and now we just need a couple of good impact signings to improve our team enough to really challenge for the title.DDR 10mHulk / Sanchez / Di Maria / Schürrle / someone else 20-25mCavani 35m + Torres if we're lucky. That's roughly 80m spent and together with a few sales (Marin, Essien, Bruma, Kakuta?) the net spend wouldn't be too much anymore, would it? Then exclude Malouda, Benayoun, Ferreira and Hilario from the wage bill when they're released and that should cover the wages of all new signings. You saying the club couldn't afford that?I agree with all you both said!I just think Mou will want to buy a young CB (Mangala, maybe) on top of a ST, RW and DM.I also think he will leave a LB and CM for next season, when Lampard/Cole/Terry will be probably gone. Lampard is a decent option for rotation and coming off the bench but I don't think he should start over 25-30 games. He should take a Giggs/Scholes role and maybe play every few games to rest players or when Jose feels he needs to call on his experienced players etc.

OneMoSalah 8,887
I actually want to see who we get in for a back up GK tbh. Don't think we'll take Courtois this year tbh, maybe its for the best as he will be playing more games etc but I don't know because sometimes you learn more playing with top players and surely training with Petr could benefit him no? Anyway mentioning Moses, I really hope he stays here, I can see Jose ironing out a few creases in him, like his left foot and possibly his decision making. OneMoSalah 8,887
He's officially the best goalkeeper in Spain last season, why would he sacrifice that to come train with Petr Cech?Hes not gonna walk into our first XI unopposed.Hes going to have to come back to Chelsea and fight for his place at one point. Cech plays every game hes fit for because hes the best GK at the club, Courtois is near enough at the same quality so if he was there to challenge he would maybe get games... was the same with Cech when he first arrived, he had to wait for Cudicini to get injured to get a shot at the first team as he was his understudy. Still reckon loaning Courtois to a club in England would be better than a loan to Atleti again, don't know what it is, have a feeling that the longer he stays with Alteti hes gonna say 'I'm comfortable here, might consider staying'.I know I've mentioned the De Gea adaption stuff before and Thibaut may be better physically developed but there is a major different between the Belgian league and La Liga in comparison to the Premier League. Even Julio Cesar, who is an experienced goal keeper mentioned it in an interview before Brazil played England a while back about the difference from Serie A to the Premier League for a GK.I know its hard to find an English club who are in the CL that aren't really going to be competing with us for the CL spots but personally I'd have put him to Everton if they would have taken him. Howard is a decent keeper still but hes 33 now and surely Everton wouldn't reject such an opportunity, or you'd hope not!Anyway if he goes on loan again but then comes back then sure I'd be happy but I have a feeling hes going to be extremely comfortable at Atleti if he does a third year and then that puts doubt in my head despite how ever many interviews saying he wants to be part of Chelsea's future etc. I mean look at De Bruyne and hes only done one season on loan now hes apparently wanting to go to Dortmund. Superblue 6,372
Mark Schwarzer to leave Fulham this summer. Perfect signing for nothing, experienced and very competent. Would allow us to loan out Courtois again. He has said he's settled in the area and his kids are at school. He may be reluctant to join as backup but the lure of possible silverware may swing it. Also factor in the amount of games we play and he'd still likely get a few games. More than at Fulham now they have Stekelenberg. KonohasOrangeFlash 2,607
If Citeh keep strengthening the way they are they'd have to be favourites. We really need to bring in some big names to compete, not the fucking Schurrle's of this world.
