Mourinho was again complementary about Juan Mata and had praise for Andre Schurrle

'Mata played the no. 10 position and the no. 7 position and he played very good with the ball as he always does, and he is playing very good without the ball like he never did.

I was worried he would lose his attacking threat under this new 'mourinho reform' but that doesn't seem to be the case. I just hope his new defensive play doesn't wear him out.

He may not have to play 90mins EVERY game ,,, W e worked him to death the last 2 years .. Hope people understand if Jose rests him at times.

In fact I hope Jose rests him and does nt flog him to death like he did to Frank

Agreed, but Frank was a tank in Jose's first few seasons here. No surprise he kept on going game after game

I thought he played well(he looked like a certain oscar on occasions kept it simple and had good defensive positioning without the ball). Four goals scored but not even an assist and yet praised by his boss that shows he and chelsea are maturing as a team.

What I really love about this guy is that he's very simple yet so effective. He moves the ball to the right direction, making our attack flow really well + gives an amazing pass every few minutes.

No unnecessary dribbling or sticking with the ball, he gets the ball and passes it where he should.

Simple and classic, top class, Juan

Well said. I too enjoy his skills for the above mentioned reasons. No frills, simple passing & very effective.

Still the best on Chelsea´s team, in my opinion.

Were you in contact with the Bombastic Jose, lately ?

no, I agree with what many people here said, Jose was trying to improve Mata so that he is a complete player (i.e improve his defence so that he's an even better asset in the big games [such as tough trips to Bernabeu, Camp Nou, Allianz Arena, Signal Iduna Park, Juventus Stadium etc]). Also Mata will now feel more pressure. I know he deserves a regular place but some players thing that they have a spot in the starting XI for granted. Even though Juan is an angel, at least Mourinho has sent his message across to the entire team, that no matter how good you are. IF you play shit, you won't play.

Mata does not need to think about anything. He is the best Chelsea player two years running.

Jose sent nothing. He uselessly benched him. Jose sometimes is too cocky & do not use his head properly.
