He wasn't blatantly at fault but Mendy would have saved that goal. Kepa's weaknesses meant that he wasn't going to save. Just look at his little hopping/skipping movement before trying to make that save. He always does it before making a save from distance and that split second moment is always the difference between saving a goal and letting in one with him.
Alonso may have scored the winner against City but it was clear by then he had lost the starting XI spot to Chilwell.
Chilwell was quiet against Arsenal but he wasn't the only one. Tuchel chose Alonso because of stupid defensive reasons even if it means costing us going forward.
And it was bloody obvious that Chilwell was desperate/eager to play against Leicester for obvious reasons. So, why did Tuchel not harness that into something positive, into an advantage for us by starting him?
Werner starting was kinda obvious given his last few performances have been good and he has contributed either decisive goals or assists. That is less obvious with Ziyech. Although they were important, Ziyech has contributed only 2 goals (no assists) since the last international break and his performances have been inconsistent. Yes, Havertz and Pulisic did nothing against Arsenal but again, they weren't the only ones and it was only less than 2 weeks ago that Havertz performed very well against Fulham and Real Madrid. So, why did Tuchel not start Havertz-Werner upfront with Mount deeper like in some of the recent games?

TT should share 50% of the blame if we fail to get top four.
We might have been 9th when he arrived but we were only a few points from top four. Only 11 from top when we're 19 now. We've thrown away a lot of points against teams who were struggling with form or in the bottom half of the table - Wolves. (H) Leeds(A)  Southampton (H) West Brom (H) Brighton (H) Arsenal (H)  14 points dropped in those games.

No getting away from it, TT has had plenty of time to have us. comfortably in the top four by now.

Mendy would have absolutely saved it, IMO.
Questions must also be asked of the players. I don't know if they have let all the praise got into their head or have just hit a wall after the Man City game but no one looked bothered in the last two games. We didn't play with the same energy, desire and intensity and now the season is in danger of becoming a complete failure. The FA Cup was our best chance of winning something out of the two finals and we bottled it. God knows what's gonna happen with the Top 4 race now.

Sterling was never in control of his body and always going down after that touch.football is a contact sport. Zouma always looks clumsy but he did not foul Sterling there

I think our Saints setup was first of all too defensive. After that there were some players that were clearly awful and should've gone out before 65'.
I can't understand leaving Alonso on the pitch. CHO was not so good, but if he maybe tried him at LWB it would give him needed kick and more space to get in the game. Also, switching to 4-2-3-1 would not be crazy too - bring Chilly for Alonso and bring Ziyech (on right wing) for James/Azpi, switch CHO to left wing. Alonso was just plain terrible. Zouma would be better in 4-2-3-1 too, and with Kante in the team, why not?
If he decided to stay with 3-4-3, why not Jorginho instead of Kante at 60'? I mean, Kova wasn't at his best, but if you pair him with J5, that could be completely different story.

Pulisic's last injury was at the end of November. Has been back since then and has been involved in 13 of our last 18 games, including today. Only has 1 goal and 1 assist.

Ugly ugly win and very careful approach by Tuchel. I'll take it of course, but hoping to see more attacking players involved. I miss Ziyech and Pulisic.
Really hope Kante can up his game and when Silva returns to maybe switch to 4-2-3-1...

Problem for me is not Chelsea not winning the title this season, I never expected that. But Spurs being first brings whole new dimension for me, for fucks sake, just can't stand that shit.

Mourinho saying they are not happy with a point, but setting whole tactic way too secure and defensive - exactly what usually leads to 0-0 games.
Yeah... and I'm not happy because I am getting wet, who cares that I am jumping in the puddle.

Have we all given up on Werner as a striker? I mean, I get that we have great crossers in team so having Abraham/Giroud maybe makes sense, but come on... Havertz and Pulisic are fit, let's try them with Timo upfront.

I'm actually worried about this. I mean, he's playing so often that he does not have enough time to complain. lol  At some point I think it's fair of him to start questioning his role in the team.
I don't really see what folks see in Abraham, but understand that he gets minutes esp for the pressing and his own development as a player - esp with Pulisic out, but he's definitely a bit pedantic on the ball IMO.
Good to see Pulisic coming back and immediately showing what. he can bring. I'd really like to see Werner and Pulisic playing together - the pace alone will be something very difficult to contain.
How good is Mendy?  (won't even go into Silva heh)

So last season has been erased from existence then?
Based on today's evidence, the finishing touch just wasn't quite there. As long as we continue to create chances in these games, the goals will come.
