OneMoSalah 8,886
Would you rather play with Silva and half the time injured and rapidly ageing Navas behind/beside you as you're 2nd choice behind Aguero (or possibly competing for the #1 spot of course) with Nasri being an option in the smaller games (all this while being coached by Pellegrini whose trophy cabinet is not too different to Arsenal's in the last 8 years) at Manchester's second biggest club;Or -Would you rather have Mata and Hazard supporting you with Oscar playing behind you at times (a player so close to Hamsik in many ways), be the #1 striker and be coached by Mourinho (who he's admitted to wanting to work with) while playing at London's biggest and best club who've won two back to back European titles in the last 2 seasons?Wow tough choice A tough choice you say? Silva and Robinho both turned us down to move to City in recent times. It is a tough choice. We had a better squad on paper than City in both years when Silva and Robinho turned us down to go to City so yeah, it doesn't matter who you have. They went because City were building an interesting project. So far the project has failed. They should have won far more domestic trophies and continue to collapse in Europe. Now they're trying a brand new project with nothing to suggest it'll succeed, whereas our new project is in full flow and only getting better with the acquisition of arguably the world's greatest manager. Nothing to show for it? So 3 trophies under Mancini and gradual improvement on league positions is nothing to show for the investment? He was the only manager who was giving time to build a team there. They aren't trying a new project, its the same, they are just trying to do more stuff like blood more youth players through and instill a philosophy through out their whole club like at Barca/Ajax. Europe was their short coming but still you can't exactly say that when we got dumped out of the competition last year after winning it. If anything we were just as bad as them in Europe this year, if not worse. Our project as such is really only just started, its a year into development. City are better than us right now, as proven in more or less every game we played against them this year except one. Rmpr
Superblue 6,372
Torres isn't even worth close to 50 mil. Lukaku is worth more. So i don't get what you are arguing there. So would i. I would love FT to go the other way and start afresh but if it doesn't happen it doesn't happen. Yes cavani will be getting high wages. But so would any player we brought in. Bringing in Cavani would be different from bringing anyone else in. The wage bill is still going to go up. If we don't get rid of torres, are we not gonna buy anyone? If Cavani comes it gives Torres the clear option. Sit on the bench and earn your money, or take a cut and go play elsewhere.I didn't necessarily mean Torres moving to Napoli as part of the deal mate (although that would certainly be preferable), I simply meant if Cavani is coming we should be looking to offload Torres to someone. Rmpr 8,977
Do people think its a given Cavani would choose us over ManCity? :lol2:I agree we have more pros than cons, but I can see Edinson going to Manchester if they offer more money or even if they persuade him their project is big enough!People think top players care about pointless stuff we (fans) do... SamuelCFC 75
Perhaps a bit too much, just below the 50 million pound mark. Hopefully he can solve our striking problems, hopefully we can still bring in the likes of De Rossi, Varane, ect.
Leif 6,006
People think top players care about pointless stuff we (fans) do...If the things are 'pointless' why do we care about them? The fact that we care makes it pretty much the opposite of pointless. Why only 'top players'? What makes a top player? Why are you suggesting just top players wouldn't care about these things? Do Cavani and Messi magically not care about the same things as us because they have 'top' status, whereas players who aren't top players yet like Lukaku or Charlie Adam (who'll never be a top player) do care?Lampard is, always has been and probably always will be a 'top player'. But I guess since he's a top player he doesn't care about the things us fans do such as support, loyalty, playing under an incredible manager and being at a club competitive on all levels. :lol2:
killer1257 3,282
Cavani would only destroy the career of Lukaku at Chelsea. He won´t win a fight against Cavani, because Cavani has much more experience on his side. I think that Lukaku will leave us after 2 years or so,because he has no reason to be here .The club does not trust him, even after his successful loan spell at WBA and I don´t think that a player like Lukaku would sit on the bench.Sad
Kinol 337
If we care about Lukakus future so much the best option should be Ibra. He only has a few years left at top level and in order to get the best out of him through out the whole season you have to give him rest, which would give Lukaku much play time. Leif 6,006
I don't care if Lukaku doesn't want Cavani here or not or whether it limits his chances or not. You don't play a striker because he was in a Youtube video visiting Stamford Bridge. You play the better player in a particular position. It's not like he came through our youth system or anything. There's plenty of Chelsea-supporting players out there even arguably more talented than Lukaku. Dzagoev for example. But we shouldn't buy him then bench Mata for him because he supports us.I want to win trophies. In my mind, there's more chance of winning these trophies with Cavani leading our line than there is with Lukaku currently. He only turned 20 a month ago anyway. It's not like we're trying to sign Cavani while Lukaku is in the peak of his career. Drogba has fought off the likes of Crespo, Shevchenko, Torres, Anelka; every single striker at this club while he was present. If Lukaku is the 'next Drogba' as so many claim why can't he do the same?Mourinho is a fair guy. The better player or whoever impresses most in training will play. So it's up to the players to show their worth. If Cavani has a bad spell Lukaku will be put into the team as he's the other option. It's then up to him to stay there. Cavani won't just magically be slotted back in after a dry spell because he's Cavani. Mourinho has never worked like that. You earn your spot in a Mourinho team regardless of your transfer fee. Just ask Kaka, Pepe, Coentrao, Modric. robsblubot

Cavani wont play every minute of every game! Lukaku will be 2nd choice next season and will get plenty of minutes to play, certainly a lot lot more than his first spell at the club. Lukaku isnt stupid he knows he isnt ready to be our 1st choice yet but he knows that if he continues his progression that he will get a heck of a lot of minutes under Mourinho. Barbara 15,149
57m is a huge sum. Just last season we made a little profit. We are going to spend more money on other players. I love Cavani and will be the happiest person if he ends of at CFC than City. But We have to work hell lot to cover the hole we are making this season.and that's considering this is a transition season. The team might be ready and win important competitions, or maybe it'll just take the whole season to finally find chemistry and start living up its potential.I don't want to have too many expectations about it. Especially if the team changes too much mediator
