I fucking knew it, fucking board who are idiots for trying to save £8m. Bid it all the way you dumbass

the same idiots who bought Mata ...then spent 80m got the likes of Oscar, Hazard last summer and so on...

easy to say 8m when it's not your money. Torres needs to be sold and there are just no takers willing to pay the required price, once sold we'll get a replacement, not the end of the world if we dont get one target, maybe we could go for Gomez or Dzeko. oh right hes not 50m so must be shit.

8 mil saved is 8 mil earned, as they say.

That is not the point, we were so close yet we give up. I am feeling annoyed because we were so close, I could understand if the club refuse to bid more than £25m or something but if we alrady go up to 50m, is there any point saving 10m more?

And at 60m, why not make it 70m and so on ? The club knows that they're overpaying even at 50m. No need to get mugged. You pay such a stupid buyout clause in this case and then every club we deal with in the future will know we're easy game in these transfer dealings.

Yes but the difference is 10M MORE AND HE IS OUR. They don't have a choice anymore because we have activated the clause, we are not in for a bidding war or something. His release clause is £53m which is 63m euros so if we already gone up to 52, might as well make it 11m more to finish this. I am not sure overpaying is the right word, Suarez, Falcao are valued at £50m and Cavani is just as good as them if not better in some area. Why should he be worth less just because he play for Napoli and not Liverpool?

Wait, are we all giving up on this transfer because of them twitter rumours saying we won't bid anymore? I'm sure the club really wants him and will cough up more money for him if it comes to it.

So many different rumours popping up everywhere. His dad says Madrid, his mum says Man City and Madrid, he says he doesn't think he'll suit playing in Spain but now wants to go to Madrid.

I rekon we just need to take these rumours with a grain of salt and wait this out. The club knows were in desperate need of a quality striker and I'm sure we'll end up with one.

Some sources said Mourinho want our transfer business COMPLETE WITHIN THE NEXT 2 WEEKS, does this sound familiar with what Cavani's mum said? Coincidentally, she said his future will be decided in 2 weeks as well. This seem weird but hopefully it means this saga is not over yet, for us anyway.

People want Cavani, because he is a big name, but when it comes to other strikers they just cant lead the line. F**k logic. I would love Napoli here, but if we don't sign him , I am not gonna be that dissapointed. Yeah, sure I would be unhappy if he goes to Madrid or City, but in the end, they sign one striker, we another, so yeah...

No because he is the best top 5 strikers in the world available atm and another opportunity won't come any time soon. The other one(Lewandowski) doesn't want to come here and another one(Falcao) already left. Agreed, they sign the best strikers available, why we make do with their scraps like Higuain, Dzeko, Jovetic, Gomez or whoever is left...

And you can't see why we are disappointed....

Tancredi Palmeri just tweeted - "Chelsea have made aware Napoli that they WON'T raise their bid anymore".

How would you know? Didn't he block you?

Are people still posting what Palmeri tweets? In case you haven't noticed, everything he says is utter BS.

Not actually that bothered, let him go where he wants where the money is highest.

Nothing against Cavani, nothing at all. He can't do anything here - the Napoli president is simply a greedy, greedy bastard. Fair play though, shows a bit of back-bone. And why should Napoli sell? They've truly re-established themselves in Italy for the first time in 15 years, and Cavani is a massive part of that.

Not signing him means we either invest a bit of faith in the £75 million-worth of strikers we currently have at the club - Torres, Lukaku, and Ba - or we revise our targets and bring in someone to do a decent job for a third of Cavani's price. And if Lukaku can score 17 goals for West Bromwich Albion in a rotation role, imagine what he can do for us - I'm very excited for him to be given a real chance at Chelsea.

The way we operate is almost ignoring the strikers anyway. Ba and Torres struggle because our midfield is our real attacking outlet - Mata, Hazard, Lampard and Oscar will get you 60 goals a season between them, easily. That is, in most seasons, 45-55% of our goals tally. Why spend £50 million + on another striker who probably will struggle, just like Torres, to score 20 goals a season for this team? Everyone goes on about Drogba, but he only had two seasons where he scored more than 16 goals for this club. Strikers typically struggle in Mourinho teams, as well.

Bullet dodged? Possibly.
