Justin_3d 1,140
AVB: Spurs may sell Modric Andre Villas-Boas has suggested that Luka Modric will be allowed to leave Tottenham Hotspur if a suitable offer arrives for the midfielder.Villas-Boas held his first press conference as Tottenham manager on Tuesday and was questioned about the future of a player who is reportedly keen to leave for a bigger club this summer.Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester United are all believed to be keen on the Croatia international and though Tottenham have previously been stubborn in their refusal to sell Modric, Villas-Boas says the player could leave before the close of the transfer window."The interest that we have from various different clubs shows the importance of the player and what he's done for Tottenham," said Villas-Boas."Ongoing discussions will continue with these clubs until we reach an agreement which is acceptable for each party."Portugal international Joao Moutinho has been mentioned as a likely replacement for Modric and the Spurs boss said he is interested in the midfielder, who helped Porto secure the treble in 2010-11 under Villas-Boas."He was one of the most important players at Euro 2012," said Villas-Boas. "He had a fantastic tournament and was also an important player for Porto in the two years they won the title."While Villas-Boas did rule out a possible move for Andy Carroll - saying "no, no, no" when asked if he would like to bring the Liverpool striker to Spurs - he did admit the club are hoping to sign Emmanuel Adebayor, who is reported to be available for as little as £5 million after impressing on loan last season."Adebayor is another player who was important last season and it will be a lie if I say we are not looking for a striker and Ade is part of that list."Villas-Boas insists his motivation in taking the Tottenham job is to fight for silverware, and not to improve his own reputation having been sacked by Chelsea in March."It is not a mission of restoring reputation," Villas-Boas told reporters, "it is a mission to get Tottenham back on track with titles."We have to continue with the quality work Harry left us. We’ll have to try to build from that and put Tottenham on road for titles."Villas-Boas arrived at Chelsea with an impressive reputation and Roman Abramovich was forced to pay £13 million to free him from his contract in Portugal.Though his brief spell in charge of Chelsea was chastening - with the players resistant to his methods and the team struggling for form - Villas-Boas says it helped his development as a manager."For me after the Chelsea step it was important to choose somewhere I was surrounded by the right people and the right commitment," he said."You always learn from experience and for me the Chelsea experience was maybe not so gratifying in terms of success but it was very gratifying professionally." Popular Post! We Hate Scouse 10,326 Posted July 11, 2012 Popular Post! Share Posted July 11, 2012 Teenage auz scum.Grow some pubes and go support your local club!! Clear glory hunter.Man united would suite you well.Go and cook me some shrimps, Unless your too busy catching crocodiles and eating spiders? You've been a season ticket holder for how long? I'm guessing not very long because you seem to think you're the only one. You also seem to think that it makes you a bigger and better supporter than everyone else, because of it. Not the case.As for this "go support your local club" bollocks, for you would that not be Bristol City? Bristol Rovers? Swindon? Forest Green?..Or is that argument now void as you're a season ticket holder?I genuinely hate fans like you. You're an embarrassment to the club and it's so ignorant that you don't realise how much more foreign supporters bring to the club than local. There's a reason the clubs trying to reach out to fans in America, Asia, China etc. The markets in those places are huge. Bigger than London/England by a long shot. We should be appreciative for the revenue that they provide, without them you wouldn't be able sit down in your precious season ticket seat and see success.I honestly don't know why you've left CFCNet you seem to be the perfect match for their self centred, egotistical, tossers that are their core members. I suggest you hurry back there quickly, I'm sure they're missing you. We certainly won't.Love from a fellow loyal fan who travels to games home/away/abroad.(Sorry for bumping this back up, just felt I had to comment.) manpe, Kezza, Justin_3d and 3 others

So do you think that Lukaku could stay with us?Lukaku is better of staying here if we don't sign a new striker. Then he will actually get a chance if we get any injuries that will need Studge to play as a winger or striker. Anyway we should probably discuss this in the Lukaku thread to prevent annoyance to other uses who think were on about Modric lol! mediator

Justin_3d 1,140
I thought Modric turned down PSG earlier saying he defo didn't want to play for them :SThings changes. If reports are true that PSG got an offer accepted for Zlatan and Thiago....I think he will change his mind cause with that the team will be good enough to challenge in the CL.Not to mention that more money PSG will give to Levy which he will like a lot, and Paris being an iconic city is beautiful place to live....he might reconsider.Me personally, am tired of Barcelona and Madrid. If another teams pips them to a player so they will become stronger and not these two, fine by me! mediator

BlueLyon 9,359
So Chelsea is out of the "race"?I was cheering that he moves to Chelsea.Yes. His price, Levy and clubs from other leagues gave us no choice to sign him. I am actualy happy we wont get him, but Oscar instead. Half cheaper and could be our very own star-in-making. Popular Post! Peace. 4,352 Posted July 11, 2012 Popular Post! Share Posted July 11, 2012 If reports are true that PSG got an offer accepted for Zlatan and Thiago....I think he will change his mind cause with that the team will be good enough to challenge in the CL.They won't, man. As long as other French teams don't get dramatically better, I deeply believe they do not have any chance. In group stages, of course they'll crush every one, but once the level will go up, they won't be able to challenge with english and spanish teams. Why ? It is simple. It will happen the same thing whom happened to Lyon, years after years, when they were walking over the Ligue 1 - let's say circa 2005-2007 (when Barça had the blue away jersey, and when Roberto Carlos was still at Madrid, for example). At the begining of the season, they were on par with the best european teams. The were drawing with Barça, they were humiliating Madrid 3-0 (two years in a row, if my memory serves me well). All that was during group stages. But once in February, when the knock-out stages were beginning, they were struggling against smaller teams (AS Roma, PSV Eindhoven).Into my eyes, the reason is the following : at the start of the season, every top clubs have more or less the same preparation, regardless of which championship they come from. But as the season goes one, top clubs gains experience (I am not sure whether it's the best word to use) depending of which opposition they fight against, week in week out. I.e., top clubs in small championships gain less experience, because, despite having a good team and good players, they encounter a weak opposition. Therefore, they don't have to step up their level in order to win. While spanish and english teams have to. As a consequence, clubs coming from big leagues are more well trained than those coming from second-rate leagues. And then a gap forms himself. This is why I can't see Paris winning the UCL as long as the LIgue doesn't improve. Of course, they can, if someone good enough is there to motivate them to give extra efforts to compensate the weak level of their league. But this is harder. Don't know if you see what I mean... Could be a potential contender if you ask me.
