Laylabelle 9,535
Me and my mum do a bet/predictions start of the season. She was in a bad mood so hers was doom and gloom...except 2 of them are correct! Think her league one will be too..and potentially champs league. I always afraid our ucl triumph hide many poor aspects while tuchel still here What i still remember from tuchel regime was there also a lot of frustating and disappointing display, relatively poor against big five aswell, his team was very inconsistent to play some decent football. In his 2nd year everything just getting worse, our football was very worrying, our team even play so awful against some asian and south american team in CWC. In his last one and half year, tuchel hardly able (or failed) to give some hope or certain indication he actually able to change and improve the team Edited January 8, 2023 by dimmas NikkiCFC, The Rising Sun and We Hate Scouse

Didn't he impose quite relentless press, efficient distribution from the back and different approach to each opponent, at least in first season? Actually a lot of players had to overcome their weaknesses to pull it off, although we always missed a striker to capitalize on it. Rotation yeah, he was super stubborn, but again, we were actually competing for something, so not many opportunities to integrate youth. I love how the "good football" became buzzword here, that actually means nothing but can be used as argument on any occasion. If some is thinking that any rebuild is making us playing some Pele-sque trickshot jorga bonito football in Premier League in XXI century then yeah, cool. We are also not banging in 5 every game without anyone who could at least pretend to be a striker. As for a team clearly worse than top3 we could only do so much and the manager can only "improve" so much without roster change. We can aim for clinical style of City, but it's different league of club management and recruitment. TT had clearly reached the wall, but he did well with what he had and this whole "rebuild", done smartly, could greatly help him. What he did when he took over was a miracle, but it's not like he could go for 3 back to back CL wins with this squad and mess of club management. Getting constant CL football was actually more than we could expect, given the circumstances. cosmicway 1,333
To fix this team is a Herculean task, having already wasted lots of money last summer uselessly. To put it in numbers one billion plus is needed. And when I say one billion it must be in one season. One billion in five-six seasons means nothing, given also that players come of age. I 've seen in my lifetime a big Chelsea team destroyed. The 1971 team (Osgood-Cooke-Hudson ...). After a few years we were playing second division football and only after Roman in the nineties did the world see us again. But in 1971 the board was penniless. For three-four years there was not one tranfer made (good-medium quality-failed). Now it's supposed to be a different Chelsea. But just the same the clouds are gathering. gdlk 286
And with what Mount deserves to be in starting 11?? Its obvious that players dont know what to do with the ball on their feet. No tactic, nothing... Even movement is wrong. We relly on Tuchels implementation of short passes but guess players lost all. Even pressing is disaster. KK is ok in a 4-line defence, but is totally unable to play in a 3-line defence. we need a striker. a real striker, someone like vlahovic or kane

The very moment dressing room revolts against him he is done and we have first signs of it already. Let alone the fact I doubt he ever got the dressing room behind him in the first place. You cannot be a manager for years if players are against you (and we are not having 23 new men in january, so there is that)

DDF has bags of skill. As posted previously, I really like what I've seen from him in that regard. The charge against him is bad decision making or, putting it more bluntly, selfishness when on the ball. It's a serious, potentially fatal, flaw. It did for Daniel Sturridge and it may do for our new boy.

I was scratching my head trying to remember who from the 1970 Cup Final side was still around in 1974. I came up with Bonetti, Harris, Hinton, Hutchinson, and McCreadie. Marvin only made the bench in '70 but, looking back with modern thinking about football, I reckon he was one of the better Blues' players of that era.
