Todd shat the bed sticking him with us. The problem is I'm afraid Potter will slightly achieve better every season from a data stand point as he did in Brighton I.e. 16th, 15th, 9th replicates as avoiding relegation this year, competing for Europa spots the year after and UCL spots the year after. I don't think he gets that far. I think as soon as there is an obvious world class manager (like guardiola) he will snap him up like enzo.

Yeah, sacking TT was a pure sabotage, but letting it aside, Potter's appointment and all the shit that came afterwards would be fine, if we were some lower-mid-table team and from time perspective, it looks like GP and TB with his spiel about vision and rebuilding missed the fact we are (and were) an elite team, that needs to win in more regular manner, not some rookies that dream about their first silverware.

I asked multiple times what is the point of taking a thousand steps back to the very ground when we actually need to make one step back and two forward, but apparently the vision and Britain's very own managerial mastermind made people blind enough not to make a place for any bit of reasonability. Because hey, "we are not changing managers every two seasons anymore", only except the very same people just spent months, crying to sack an actually elite one, we could have sticked for years to make it happen, so hope it was worth it for them.

But no point in this rant as a lot of people fully bought into this loser's mentality of mid-table team or Arsenal in it's deepest rut - six months earlier no sane man would think mid-table manager, who got his mid-table team 16th and 9th is Successful from Chelsea's perspective, but now it's apparently something we aim form and one of main arguments for him being fit to coach here. 10 more pressers about how we "going in right direction" and "working hard" and hardly anyone will bat an eye we are humiliating ourselves, because we played 25 mins like a proper football team against relegation candidate, so the guy is a genius (too bad we got a beating afterwards). Fun thing is that even in least demanding of jobs, if you were working hard for four months and produced shit, zero, nada from it, you'd be fired at the spot. But hey, he needs time as owners changed, not his players, then players being new, injuries, pigeons on pitch, blahblahblah.

It's all about actual vision and mentality - after the presser after Forrest, when we heard we worked hard but didn't deserve the win, Roman would escort this folk out of property and kick him into fucking space. But now, it's a part of process ya know. Too bad the process seems to lead towards the wrong end of the table, mental-wise and performance-wise.

Fun thing is he probably didn't. Players won against Milan because they personally care about CL and they don't need GP for it. League or domestic cup is just another paid day in the office for them, so they draw to relegation teams and stroll around smiling, because they know they won't get a silverware this season anyway.

That's the difference of having a leader and character at the helm or not having one. It's not like they've got depressed after the CL games.

Noticed that last season as well. We turned up in the cup competitions (apart from CWC, were we really looked shaky af) bc we still got a trophy to win and barely showed up in the league. But that is why we brought in many young, hungry players who still want to proof themselves in PL.

Honestly, there is no way we would be in this bad a position with TT at the helm. He might also have struggled to motivate our spineless squad but with these signings now, he sure af would have them firing already. While TT would never have been the man to lead our long term project, neither is GP and we downgraded ourselves massively with this managerial switch. No way we would have missed out on top 4 with TT. This is particularly frustrating as TT did not even want to have anything to do with the transfers, so Felix, Mudryk, Enzo might have come in anyway.

More so, we will pay a huge price for having GP as manager in the years to come. Even with a great squad that basically trains itself, you can only get so far without a decent manager. The only team ever that carried managers of GP's level successfully in recent memory was our very own golden generation  of the Cech-JT-Lamps-Drogs axis carrying Grant and RDM to CL finals. But this current squad is not only too young and inexperienced to accomplish similar heroics but also will be held back in their development massively by a manager out of his depth.

Wonder if the bridge was burned with Tuchel btw. What would happen if we asked him to come back?

I have heard Simon Jordan on TalkSport say several times that he knows what happened behind the scenes between Tuchel and Boehly and that if we the public knew what it was they wouldn’t blame Boehly for sacking him. So my guess is Tuchel was very blunt with ownership when they were going to him with various targets (CR7, perhaps?) and he basically told them to fuck off.

Yeahhhh probably loads behind the scenes but if that was the case then don't blame him. Can't force random targets on people especially if it's more to do with who the player is rather then what skills they bring

Tuchel also had his fair share of issues with a Director of Football type setup (his time at Dortmund & PSG were cut short due to disagreements & fights with the Director of Football/board). 

I felt like it was just bad timing for Tuchel:

• Had his ongoing personal issues with his partner
• Lost his best defender and his #1 supporter for nothing (Rudiger)
• Was asked to sign players and he doesn't really have any experience in that aspect so we ended up signing players that we didn't need for inflated fees (Koulibaly, Cucurella). 

The weird one was for the club to go after Potter as he was never going to be a short term fix and he doesn't have any success to his name.

If the next few results don't go in Potter's favor, I do wonder whether the club considers letting him go. Spending that much in one transfer window has just put a bulls eye target on Potter's back.

i've changed my mind on him, After Saturday's disaster he's fucked, Moyes yet again out thinks a CFC manager, as he did TT last season.

I still believe that we should clear out at least eleven players asap, squad too big and too much crap , and get rid of Potter, as per "pinball wizard"
