I really thought my days of panicking we are about to resign Lukaku were over.

I really wouldn't worry, he is getting to the age we do not spend big money on. I'd be amazed if we signed either him or Kane. Players like Håland (although he is almost impossible), Silva, Kun and maybe even Ings are more likely imo.

TBF, he has improved under Conte.

But I don't think the signing is going to happen as long as Conte remains at Inter.

Let’s hope that United are stupidly still enamored with Sancho and spunk all their money on him rather than going after Kane or Haaland who would be much better fits. That way we have less competition. United still need a CB as well who will be hugely expensive.

Until it was just mentioned here I didn’t even consider the idea of Tammy + cash as an offer for Kane. But if he gives any indication that he wants out we should definitely try that. His age doesn’t concern me at all. Late 20’s is the perfect age for our current squad and he’d easily give you 4-5 more years of top level play. Look at Giroud.

Of course there’s that small matter of Daniel Levy… 🥶

If it was '"just" the fact i didn't believe he was good enough then I could have been strong armed into trying to see the positives and to open my mind a bit (like i did/am doing with Chilwell).

The most off putting thing is his personality, after seeing Mount use our signings as extra motivation to earn an untouchable status do we really want a guy who believes he's entitled to the silver spoon? (both with us as a 20 year old then at United he went to train at Anderlect until he got granted his move because he was told he had to fight for his place).

He's got the ego of a generational superstar without the ability level to back it up.

Well, if you want to put it that way...

TBH, he is up there with the best CF on the planet right now. He is very animated on the pitch but he works his socks off and plays to win. I don't think it will happen but he literally looks a complete striker right now.

No chance Inter or Conte would sell him, why would he even leave? He has it good there under Conte and are winning.....in sunny Italy.

I know you said it in jest but average temperatures in London and Milan aren't that far apart.

Yeah, Lukaku is in the perfect team, with the perfect coach, and is in the league where he can dominate despite his technical limitations. Hard to see him wanting to go anywhere.

Seems like it may be Haaland or bust in terms of big name, mega money strikers. And Dortmund are already signaling that they’re playing hardball with him like they did with Sancho last summer. Someone either pays like 150m or he stays for 1 more season.

We may have to go the cheaper route where Tuchel identifies a striker who can fit his style or we try to convince Aguero to come in as a short stopgap.

Sancho doesn’t make sense for us with the number of attacking kids we already have. Especially not for 90m.

Yeah, we would have to sell both CHO and Ziyech for it to work.
