Gallagher can play there, likewise Ampadu. Hopefully Gilmour wins the place once he's back, can't handle a full season of Kante there.

I thought (and definitely saw on the few occasions I could) Gallagher playing as an AM, did not know he could play DM

He can pretty much play any midfield position (wouldn't be shocked if he could play fullback aswell) and has according to this actually played DM more than any other position.

Including many times for Charlton (he was mainly an AM for Swansea though).

The uncertainty around the position infront of the back four could give him a potential opening

Gallagher would need more experience imo. Ampadu seems the best option. People will target counterattacks against us so I wouldn't want a soft Gallagher or Gilmour there to be honest. I want someone that will allow Ziyech and Havertz not worry too much about defensive duties

Ampadu yes. I'm petrified if Kova has to play there. He'd could get sent off for his mistimed tackles.

I'm going to be old and grey before Havertz is a Chelsea player. 👴🏻

Also, people have to take it easy on the Ampadu talk. I don't think he's anywhere close to ready for the first team of a side trying to challenge for trophies. We need to get him a good PL loan to see if he can cut it here first.

I wonder what we are doing about the defensive midfielder position. If Kante gets injured again, we're depending on Jorginho to protect Werner, Ziyech, Havertz, Pulisic upfront.

We are begging to be hit on the counter guys. Unless Lampard has a plan for Mount, because he's a good tackler but getting a Defensive midfielder (our Casemiro) making the tackles even temporarily would not hurt.

Amapdu.

With Thiago Silva on board and hopefully a Goalkeeper I would conclude Kai is overkill and this leads to a fun season ahead. I would take happy ending hereemoji12.png

The problem with our CM is twofold. First is the lack of goals and the second is the lack of robustness. A fit RLC, Kante and a hand from Amapdu could help with the robustness. However, I suspect SFL is looking for a CM that gets 12-20 goals a season like he, Gerrard, Ballack, Scholes etc used to do. If he wants that, then he has to get Harvetz.

Well I will just be calm with the Havertz deal and hope it come through.

So I've been thinking about it a lot this morning and I'm starting to reconcile the idea that we won't bring in a new keeper this summer. I believe Havertz will be our final incoming. Similarly to the Declan Rice transfer, I think we will wait until next summer to bring someone in there.

Can see the club giving Kepa one last chance, seeing if he improves with a much better team in front of him, and assess the options in either January or this time next summer.

Just the fact that no super reliable roporter has linked us with anyone in particular tells me nothing is close. The Romano's and Di Marzio's of the world sniff these things out well in advance. That combined with there being no real clear destination for Kepa to go.
