Ah, the classic “throw Chelsea’s name out there to pressure the actual interested club into paying more” strategy that we’ve seen countless times.

De Jong makes no sense unless J5 is sold. And the only news we’ve heard on the Jorginho front lately is about him renewing not moving.

€90m for De Ligt...hell no...great and far better cb available in the market....just buy Kounde and a very good or impressive defender not overrated De Ligt

David Carmo

Goncalo inacio

Presnel Kimpembe(Tuchel previous connection) etc

there are very few actual (at this very moment) WC CB's, U rate 10 as such (and nope, so not putting the dwarf in here at all atm, not even in the 7 potentials I list after the top 10, as he is far too rash, plus he is a ball watcher far too often, has positional issues, and is too damn short for my tastes as far as the EPL goes)

we had 2 (Rudiger (sorry for the haters but he WAS absolutely WC last season) and of course Thiago Silva, but one is now gone (Rudi), and Thiago is soon 38yo)

(Bastoni regressed or would be on this list, I have developed real issues with his positional instincts, and José María Giménez is far too often injured)

the other 8 of the 10 WC ones

all in bold were one I approved of buy attempts

Rúben Dias
Matthijs de Ligt
Marquinhos  (was always a pipe dream)
Milan Skriniar
Virgil van Dijk
David Alaba  (the only sub 6 footers on this list, he was so dominant at times, often made the 'deffo not WC in my book' Éder Militão look great)
Kalidou Koulibaly
Aymeric Laporte (rebounded with a great year, this coming year will tell if he remains WC for the next 3, 4 years or not)

and the 'on the path' ones

Josko Gvardiol
Ronald Araújo  (missed out when he renewed)
Fikayo Tomori
Cristian Romero
Nico Schlotterbeck (fucking huge miss for us UMHO, time will tell)
Bremer
Ibrahima Konaté  (shocked how much he improved, big year coming to see if it was a fluke, or he pushes on to top 10)

What are your thoughts on Kimpembe? I think he's a good Rudiger replacement, the best among the left footed options. L'Equipe saying he might move is a good sign and Tuchel knows, appreciates him too

When Matt Law or Ben Jacobs run with us in discussions with FdJ, I will believe it. Until then Laporte is using our name to try to squeeze Man Utd for more money.

That’s exactly what this is. Barca have their typical Catalan mouthpieces in the media put this out to get United to pay up. And pay up in full all at once rather than the add ons United want to use.

If we are really interested in De Jong, I think we have a greater chance of doing business with Barca than United have at the moment.
Barca apparently owe De Jong 13m + 3.4m in salary and bonuses, which United do not want to pay (from what I read).

Barca want Azpi and Alonso, which makes it possible for them to get Alonso / Azpi at a subsidized price to set off payment to De Jong, for example.
Smart accounting is important for Barca in their situation right now..

Or.... we are beeing used to pressuring United 🙄
