For a season I think a poacher is what we need, havertz is bascally a ghost around the box, also when he presses he just gives fouls away constantly.

Maybe his legs have gone but most teams in the PL we dominate possession and normally parked in their half! we don't need legs! We need some 1 to be able to put the ball in the net. Might not be as effective against the top teams but the lower teams hes exactly what we lack.

If it was a simple 1 season loan I’d reluctantly accept it due to the fact that he’s worked with Tuchel before.

But as was pointed out to me here yesterday he’s on a multi-year contract at Barca. So if he signs for us now why would he agree to only 1 year where he’s got no longer term security and could be scrambling for yet another club a year from now?

Outside of winning a bizarre case against the previous management group, Barcelona do not have a leg to stand on legally in relation to what they owe FDJ. If he says all the right things, and does all the right things, they also have no leverage over him morally. Telling him to. "reduce your salary or leave", is just FCB playing to the crowd. The bloke has a contract and tough words aren't going to make that go away. Their best bet is to add a pretty please on the end of that statement.

Of course, having said all the good things, and done all the good things, De Jong can later play the knight in shining armour and say he only left Barca to help the club but he can leave on his terms.
