Chelsea Transfers

After seemingly being linked with him every transfer window for the past 5 years it could finally happen. With how things have gone for us this summer so far (go after a top player and then get hijacked) I’m not going to get too excited until he’s holding a Chelsea shirt.

But damn, what a good signing he’d be.

And what's the alternative build around them and make constant excuses/allowances for them like United do with Maguire?

Accountability is why we can recover from a relative crisis reasonably quickly.

The alternative is better recruitment in the first place, we are to blame for this situation.

I am just worried whether we will be stuck with him on big money  in 4 years time

Do you really think he'd be given a five year contract at 31? A 3 year deal with the option for a fourth would be my guess. At the very most it would be a straight 4 year contract but somehow I doubt it.

As far as current ability level goes, Koulibaly is the best we can realistically get in this window. Better than MDL and Kounde for sure, although those two of course have age on their side. Still, Koulibaly for a few years would be a great signing.

€40m for a player in 2022 is sofa cushion money. For someone who is a world class calibre player it’s a piss take, 31 years old or not.

Don’t see any downside to this. He’s massive, he’s quick, he’s comfortable on the ball with great passing range, and seemingly most importantly to Tuchel he’s a big time leader for club and country.

He is ideally suited to English football. Don’t have to worry about him in the way you might have to with Koundé for instance.

why not?

KK would be Juve replacement for MDL

without him its more complicated to buy a player than can make Juve fight for scudetto

they need 2 defenders I think

No bidding war mean Juve can't ask for more.

40 mil for a 31 years old who never played in the PL is poor business, let's not sugarcoat it, we're desperate and it shows after losing De Ligt. He is worth the risk considering the alternatives but nothing exciting.

But 70 mill on a slow 23 Yr old centre half thats never played in the PL is good business?

we are desesperate for a center back

not a amazing business but a very good business if we attend to our context

with ake + koulibaly we need at least one more defender... would be nice if we get Koundé

aké could be a backup for left back and kounde for right back

lets hope for the best !
