I’d absolutely take him on a cheap deal now or free in the summer. His pace alone will mean he’s a massive upgrade on Ziyech and he can’t be worse than CHO in current form.

The bar isn't set very high then, is it? Compare him with our current lot, it would look as though we are just throwing money at something and hoping it sticks without any actual thought put behind it.

I think he would definitely be someone Tuchel pushed for if he were to join. He knows him well & has spoken highly of him on a number of occasions.

Doesn't guarantee he'll be a success and not to mention, there's his very dodgy injury record.

are not his wage demands INSANE? like £692K PW insane? plus a crazy signing bonus in the tens of millions?

even if you reduce that wage by two thirds it is still £228K PW, which would be £70-80m in wages and signing bonus (if £10 to 20m) over 5 years!

meanwhile Theo will cost AC Milan only around £16.2m over 5 years in wages (this season plus 4 more) Even if you toss in a full year's new salary as a renewal bonus (which may not even be the case) it is only £19.9m in toto

His wage demands are enough for this to seem like it is never going to happen. Then his injury record. To make it even more far fetched are the fines he has received from Barcelona for being late. It is also said he doesn't like give a lot of effort in training.

That's why @Pizy mentioned it's decent business if we can get him on the cheap. I'm sure you'd agree.

If we are going to buy an attacker, at least get someone who for sure will be a success. Buying someone on the cheap for the sake of it is pointless if that person turns out to be a dud anyway. Mind you, we bought Ziyech for kinda on the cheap side when you consider how much we paid for Werner, Havertz, Lukaku etc and yet, he's turned out to be a dud and people want him gone.

There's no guarantee either way. We paid big for Pulisic & how is that working out? Days of actually buying starting quality are gone for the most part.

If everything were to line up, the pros would outweigh the cons where this deal is concerned. His attitude (Fortnite addiction 😄) would be the main worry for me.

We paid big for Pulisic, who wasn't even close to a guarantee to begin with and we're surprised by the current situation?

Moreover, even if Dembele is on the cheap side, I find it weird people want an injury prone player when the same people always complain about Pulisic being injury prone (even though he hasn't had a notable injury "caused" by himself in a long time).

The way I’d look at Dembele is similar to Ross Barkley. A player who at the time would ordinarily have cost an absolute bomb to buy if they had a longer contract but was signed for cheap because his contract was soon expiring. You sign them for cheap, kick the tires to see what you have, and then decide what to do.

If he works out and lives up to his incredible potential you have a top class player for peanuts (transfer fee wise) and if he doesn’t you aren’t fucking yourself over for 5 years having paid tens of millions.

I’m not saying we should prioritize Dembele at all costs or anything but if I woke up on deadline day and saw that we signed him for £15-20m I wouldn’t be against it. Not really any downside at those prices.

I hope you remember that we still have Barkley in the books and have been struggling him to get rid of him.

The problem has been constant change managers.

Had we stuck with Conte for a while we long gotten rid of those duds.

If we stick with Tuchel we can get rid of them and get players that fit the profile.

I still think we did great with Lampard and improve on Tuchel. Tuchel has a slowdown but it's nothing that can be fixed with another season.

If you're paying £54m for a player, I'd expect them to hit more than 11 goals in a season.

Players can get past injury issues when their young, well managed & have the right fitness routine in place. Also, keep in mind that he did play 34 games for Barcelona last season, not 5.

We have nearly a whole squad that's injury prone. And then we add another injury prone player. Can't make this up.
