2017 transformed us from title contenders to top four contenders.

2021 will transform us from top four contenders to to top 5-8 team.

Neglecting need to overhaul our midfield with at least two quality midfielders and getting Lukaku instead will haunt us every game onwards. That summer was even more damaging than summer of 2017.

We are behind many clubs in pecking order and our only hope of getting big club status again is extremely good talent hunter.

sadly is true

It's time to seriously think about buying Ivan Toney.

He is built to play here. We have to accept that certain strikers just thrive in blue... Big powerful mother fuckers who know where the net is.

I'd like to worry about rejuvenating the midfield first. Otherwise, what's the point?

I did make a post a week or so before we signed Lukaku stating this signing would ultimately get Tuchel sacked.

Looking how things unfolded, prioritizing Lukaku over Tchouameni and settling for Saul on loan, I was kind of right. Tuchel's bizarre thought process into thinking Jorginho, Kovacic, and Kante didn't needed to be improved on, will forever mystify me.

If we must lower the standard of targets, I'd prefer us to go after Mitrović.

I don't get who was responsible for our transfers. Were second and third choices we were getting manager choices? What use of 250 mill spent if you are weakening your team? Are managers really that stupid? Did Tuchel really want 30+ players and the one that suffered major injury prior after going trough hell with Reece's and Chilwell's injuries.

I read somewhere that Fofana was signed on basis of some data and analyses. In the last two years we signed Lukaku and Sterling- two 28 yers old who played football since they were sixteen. They had all career behind them. They were not at their peak, they were past their peak.

We also signed KK, Auba, Azpi. Add Silva, Jorginho, Kante to the mix, that is more than half team in thirties and close to past it status.  Even Silva is not what he used to be.

Who imagined this team to  improve when half of the team is declining  individually? I really don't get it.

It's hard to know Endrik's ceiling atm. He's just too young at 16.

Could be anywhere between Ronaldo 9, Ronaldinho, Neymar, or a Robinho (talking about the footballer not the person 🤮). It does not look like he's going to turn into Robinho at this point tho.

Abel Ferreira, Palmeiras Portuguese manager/coach is also someone to keep an eye on. He's doing something incredible and without the riches of Flamengo. Word is that he's disciplined, tactically savvy (as we saw when we played them in the WCC), and also a great motivator--his players eat dirt for him.

Sounds like young Mourinho coaching in the Portuguese leagues....

Bruno G is under contract at Newcastle for another several years. There’s absolutely zero chance Newcastle would even pick up the phone if we (or anyone else in the PL) came calling. Not like they need money since they have unlimited cash now. They probably see themselves as a club who will be on the same level as the Big 6 within the next 2-3 years so selling their best player now undermines that effort.

Like most other Brazilians who attract attention at smaller clubs, he’ll likely end up at Barca or RM in a year or two.
