It would be utter insanity to even loan Broja until we sign another attacker, never mind sell him permanently. He’s the only actual striker in our squad, ffs! Are we complete idiots?!

Imagine losing our two biggest prospects this summer again a year after having the same thing happen last year. This time both are on very long contracts too so we have all the leverage. So unless we’re being offered silly fees of like £50m we shouldn’t even be entertaining these offers.

Gallagher is the biggest prospect by going on what he has achieved on loan. That said, I am high on Colwill and wanted to see a lot more of Mando, so losing both would be galling. Hopefully, if sold, both get a buyback put in for reasonable amounts. Both have long term contracts so we should be in a position of relative strength compared to Guehi and Livra.

Well done to the lad if he does and, if so, well done to you for the spot. I'm one of those people whose views surprised you. I'm not a believer whether at CB or DM.

I think Ethan was/is hard to evaluate as he had/has a rashness/carelessness that can make him appear more limited than he is.

Personally, I have thought he would grow out of it, which made me think he skills of direct passing through the lines would come to the fore more. This is what I think is happening now with him, although he is further behind in his development than I thought he would be at this stage.

Anyhow, let's see what happens with him. I personally just want him given a chance because it is better to have a academy player take the squad roles than buying a squad filler player. For me, if the option is a Sarr or Ampadu, I'd take an Ampadu all day, every day.

Wouldnt Broja be behind Antonio in the pecking order? Isnt he only behind Kai here? As I see the rest are either RW or LW... Also I think Broja has 4 years left in his contract, so it would be stupid to rush to sell him or selling him without a buy back.

Shame if he does end up leaving, I was looking forward to seeing him playing with this team in preseason.

Fair enough, should have specified that i'm talking about this summer specifically, as the same appears to be the case for Colwill.

Which is not fully true also, Gallagher, Ampadu and Sterling are fighting for the spot this preaseason, and are not forcing any moves. Don't know about Vale, Anjorin and Gilmour situation though.

I wouldnt include Gallagher as he is 22 already and his prospects of getting games are clearly way higher than for the rest. Ampadu and Sterling i could give you, but it's not as if pl clubs are lining up for them either.

As for incomings I now expect 1 x CB (guessing Kounde) and 1 x RWB. Think people are getting a bit too caught up with TT's comments about 3 defenders as he included Dave in that equation and Dave isn't a full blown CB.

After that, I would probably leave things as they are. AM and CF market is weak and we don't need another expensive flop. CM also doesn't have much going on, unless SMS pops up at a realistic/cheap price (unlikely.)

Maybe a GK2 to replace Kepa but I cannot see much more than that.

Tbh, I think we need to start clearing out players so we don't have 10 of them sitting around doing nothing.

We aren’t even credibly linked with any strikers or attackers at this time. All have either moved elsewhere (Lewa, Dembele, Raphinha, Jesus, Richarlison) or we’ve said no thanks to (CR7). Any that are left are prohibitively expensive like Leão.

So let’s say Havertz has an awkward landing in our next preseason game on Wednesday, twists his ankle badly, and is then out for extended time. Then what? Werner up top? Sterling?

There’s just no way we can enter then season without another attacking signing. Broja was in line to get LOTS of minutes for us but he apparently doesn’t have the heart to be patient.

This is the issue we’re going to have with many of our youth players now. They see some of the lads we’ve sold recently killing it at smaller clubs and will sacrifice their dream of one day playing for Chelsea in order to get minutes right away.

Seems that in order for you to break through to our first team as a youth player you have to absolutely crush it out on loan first. Reece, Mount, Gallagher, Chalobah. All had excellent seasons out on loan.

Well, if you want to fight for the title, you have to be both - best and consistent. If they feel like the position should be gifted to them, well that's on them.

Sources indicate the proposed move to West Ham has not been developed at the request of Chelsea, instead driven by Broja and his desire for regular first team starts. (@David_Ornstein)

So can we now stop blaming the club for this

If the buyback is reasonable it is essentially a loan.

Not really. Par for the course is that the buy-back exceeds the original transfer fee. This means that, unlike a loan where West ham would be paying a fee to Chelsea, we'd actually be paying them to take Mando on loan.

There has to come a point when the club puts its foot down, though. He just signed a 5 year deal a year ago. We have the power to sit him down and tell him that he’s staying and that we need him in the squad for a long, grueling season. We could play 60 games again like last season, have 5 subs, and have a midseason World Cup that can cause all sorts of chaos.

He’ll be needed if we don’t sign anyone else.

Yeah i can see that. In that case it comes down to if TT is willing to have to rely on a player that doesn't want to be here. Of course he signed a contract and it has to be expected of him to give 100% for that duration. Always hard to predict how sth like that turns out.

Seeing how things could turn fast like last season regarding injuries, we should prepare for it this season. He is our only pure ST we have in the squad, he WILL get minutes. Him being happy with those minutes is another thing.

He has 4 years left on his contract, if West Ham want him then slap on a buy back clause, if they wont then no deal. If we can handle the Lukaku shtshow, we can handle this.

Yeah, it is the club's fault that they cannot convince a 2nd choice striker with a 5 year deal of game time. Then who is it that the club can convince to stay these days?

I can't believe Broja move is progressing without a replacement in sight.
