Are you sure it was Cech and not Marina? 

From the stories that were reported, Cech did his best to support Kepa - not opposed against signing a new keeper - while Marina wanted to make things work because of the fee paid for him. She even supposedly took time out from her summer break last year to support him and try and plot a path forward.

Not sure if Magic Lamps knows but I certainly don't.  What I can say, is that the way you break it down here would all be pretty logical. Different people in the organisation each have slightly differing views informed by slightly differing responsibilities but can see each other's perspectives and ultimately accede to the manager's fears that the season will go down the tubes if they don't pull the trigger.

22 clean sheets already this season. 15 in the Premier League, which is 2nd only to Ederson (17) and 1 ahead of Emi Martinez (Villa play tonight).

That 22 is just 1 less than Kepa, 6 more than Courtois and 6 less than Cech managed in their debut seasons at the club.

Mount and Kai might be the ones grabbing the headlines for the game and they were both top notch. But my man of the match goes to Mendy, who I thought had his best game so far.

Started well at the club but then had a bit of a wobble for a while, to the point where some fans were even calling for Kepa to be recalled. So credit  to Mendy for bouncing back the past few weeks.
