A family member of mine is an analyst at Leicester and we were talking about Chilwell. He says physically he's one of the best at the club, however, he just doesn't have the tactical capabilities to understand what is required. This is a major worry.

This is what I think is everyone who has watched him extensively concern. Anyone that bothers can see it being said about him from all quarters.

For anyone saying but Lamps wants him, so he must be good.

Yes Lamps was a great great player and played with great players, but just how long is he a manager and how experienced is he with transfers? Right. And surely there will be english bias etc.

Chilwell might turn well, but every single fan prefers cheaper and better alternatives. If Chilwell flops I hope the board gets sacked and we get someone who knows market better.

I don't know about that. Maybe SFL does want him but his profile also fits the Morata/Kepa/Bakayoko/Batsh*t/Emerson/Barkley play book. I.e. age 21-24, highly rated by a lot of the chattering classes in football and looks like if they flop you would be able to shift without too much of a loss (easier said than done.)

SFL may want him but he also fits the profile of player we have been targeting/buying for years.

if thats the case, our board learned nothing and we wont build quality side at all.

Not sure why you only mentioned those average players/flops because let's be fair here, do Werner, Havertz, Chilwell, Reguilon etc not fit into the same profile too?

Think the better question is whether Lampard is a good judge of talent and quality. Don't think experience matters much at all as long as that person knows how to spot a talent.

I wouldn't say so. Werner hits the Costa/Kante play book more in that he is a highly rated talent with a low buyout clause for his skill level (to be fair to the club they are very good at doing these deals.) Havertz, is more like a Hazard type signing in that he is rated by everyone and is seen as a generational talent. His signing is one we haven't seen for a while. Neymar is probably the only other time, outside of Hazard that we have tried for this (Pele fu*ked us over on that one) in the past 10-12 years.

Regulion I agree is similar. However, at half the cost (although his rumoured buy back is an issue.)

Chilwell is an awesome player.

He had a dip in form like the entire Leicster squad post Covid.

But he is still a top buy for age and nationality.

I fully get everyone has opinions on different players and who we should and shouldn't get but the sheer negativity around here, not just Chilwell but in general really does sadden me.

This place is beaming with joy compared to the Red Cafe. I do share the optimism of our club. We are moving in the right direction and have quality signings coming in. There are not many clubs that can say the same right now.

Chilwell is our new Ashley Cole 100% certain of that! ( a man can have a little faith)

I would love this to be true but unfortunately there is no evidence Chilwell can actually defend to a high level. Only time he has played at a sustained high level was for three months last season when LCFC were flying and playing on the front foot. That allowed him to bomb up and down without too much defending with his back to goal. Once LCFC's level dropped off, he was the member of the defence that most teams targeted as Ricardo is a better FB and Evans and Sonyu are pretty much no nonsense CB's.

The thing people need to consider is that this isn't just Chelsea fans saying it, LCFC fans all say it as well. Honestly, go look at Foxestalk, most LCFC fans will be doing cartwheels if he he sold for above £35m as 80-90% of them think they can do better.
