If Koeman decides to rest Messi in Copa Del Rey game (even final) and Braithwaite does not scoreย in some attacking situation, their fans wont go: oh, Leo would dribble here past 3 players and score... Mendy is my POTY pick for this season and best GK in the league so it is crazy to expect the same from Kepa. You can blame TT tho. but Kepa does not deserve this shit. And most other top clubs have excellent goal keepers as well. ย They all haveย different strengths and weaknesses.ย however, none of them haveย this deficiency with long shots. It's kinda a deal breaker at this level. My personal take is that Kepa is one of the worstย goalies I've seen play the game - especially at this level. Folks are being WAY too nice to him here. He hurts the team's defense in ways that are difficult to measure, but defending is consistently worseย whenever he plays. Perhaps because players scramble to close down the opposition to avoid long shots? They are all at a similar level. Which is crazy considering 2 or 3ย years ago at the World Cup Kepa was considered to be the Spanish publicsย preferredย choice to be their number 1 ahead of De Gea. Then years before that De Gea was seen as theย best player in that position in world football. Its been weird. Agreed unlike Torres he's still (from what i can see) been a decent infulence off the pitch. Hopefully the rumours of Sarri wanting him are true as it will suit every party.
