Special Juan 28,141
There is a mental thing going on with Morata, Sarri needs to tap into that and sort it if he's to get anywhere near the maximum from Alvaro. Unionjack

I live in a bi-lingual country (technically) and have taken Spanish and French at school (albeit ages ago). My ability to pick up languages and retain anything is hopeless. I'm decent at charades, and that seems to get me by in other countries. Spanish is alright to start with, I found the basic words and sentences pretty easy, it's when the adjectives and nouns come into play it becomes a total mind fuck. Superblue 6,372
His English is very good. i knew he could speak the language, but I just assumed at a basic level like Ancelotti and Conte could do when they were first unveiled. He already seems far ahead of them and will only help him getting his ideas across to the players far quicker. From that interview you can tell that he is aware of how big an opportunity this is for him and that he'll give everything he's got to make it work. I have no doubt in time he'll have us playing a very attractive brand of football. I believe this will give him some time with both the board and the fans if people can enjoy what is being served. However that will only last so long, and even more so at a club as demanding at Chelsea. He is fortunate to have already here a core group of players that have won trophies in the past and are capable of dealing with those pressures. Hopefully that mixed with Sarri's football philosophy will be enough to give an attractive, attacking and winning Chelsea moving forward. Eidur the Spider 4,515
Really impressed with that first interview. Comes across very likeable and I think he will have a good rapport with the players. I like that he emphasises fun as well as hard work, that should be a little different to the approach that’s upset some players the past season. cautiously optimistic . Good luck Sarri and up the blues!!!
!Hazard! 3,394
I agree with others, his English is surprisingly good for a 60-year old Italian and I'm sure he will be able to pick up more very quickly since he's at such a good level already. Also comes across as genuinely likeable character. Can't wait to see the team playing 'his football'!! Btw, is it just me or does he sound just like Zlatan
Pizy 18,907
Holy shit, his English is excellent! Significantly better than Conte's already and will only improve. Credit Antonio for trying, but he was visibly fighting with his mind to force out sentences in English. Every press conference and interview was a struggle. For example, each time he was asked a question you'd see him pause for a good few seconds to really think about what he was trying to say. It meant that I rarely ever watched his pressers. Sarri has got a certain calm coolness about him. Like a dude who has seen it all. In a different way than Conte, he seems like the sort of coach who will command instant respect from the players. Milan 17,957
A few adjustments and we are ready to play my football. Well, these are some strong words, sir! And indeed, some voice similarities with Ibrahimovic
El P. 1,354
I love this Italian connection with the club. Really really lot of Italians made their mark at the club. It always seems to me when Chelsea gets down, some Italian guy will come to rescue. EDIT: And also, because of our Italian history, they are always tempted to come here. That is really great thing to have, they are huge footballing nation.

Conte had it and Mou was full of ..it. but I read that Sarri hardly shows emotions. When his teams have a big win or a big loss he stays on a steady keel. This will make a change but its one that might help him allot with the board and media.

Oh please, Tomo. You'll be the first calling for his dismissal when things go sour, haha. He's got my support because I like his brand of football but I give him two years max. I'd love to be completely wrong on this but I know how things work at Chelsea. 11Drogba

Define sour? if he has us fighting relegation or gets repeatedly outsmarted by mediocre managers then ok, however if I believe he was getting close to the best out of what he has then ill be fine. OneMoSalah 8,886
That interview is good, his English is also quite good, a lot better than I expected. Zola as well as an assistant gives him a huge helping too because he instantly commands respect from the squad for his history as a player as well as can help out with instructions if he struggles. I think with such a short pre-season and also the huge difference in philosophy to Conte he will need time at the start of the season to get everything in place like what originally happened with him at Napoli as well but from that interview the way he talks about how the fans, players and himself enjoying "his football" as opposed to going out at all costs to win no matter what is a breath of fresh air, actually similarly to AVB at the start, fair enough he also mentioned winning but very briefly although he will be under that pressure to try and be very competitive in the league cups but I dont think there is any illusions Roman will want to win something major regardless of how the team plays but I think Sarri will have less pressure than the likes of Jose, Carlo, Conte and whoever else because he is the guy who can deliver what the club have wanted in terms of style since Pep burst on the scene. The progression of his career from 5 years ago in Serie B to where he is now is also something hes obviously very proud of and rightly so I think he will be extremely motivated to prove he is worthy of being here. I must admit this is the most excited I've been in a long time regarding Chelsea and even if we win fuck all this season we will probably be one of the best teams to watch in Europe 100% (people will respect that as opposed to criticise our football as usual haha). I like it when we win too before anybody accuses me of being an Arsenal fan making a statement like that about good football and not winning fuck all haha. Strike 7,489
First words are important. I can't remember a manager going for the word 'Fun' ever in a first interview. Ancelotti, Mourinho, Conte all tried but we were practical under them in varying degrees Unionjack
