It's a difficult one. I think there are a lot more players in the squad who should be shown the door before he is considered, and I think in an all round fitter, more aggressive team which I hope Poch is going to bring, he could well be a great fit.

However, if everyone was fit, does he still get in our strongest XI? I think with Nkunku coming in, I'm not so sure.

Ultimately though this boils down to being unable to tie him down to a new contract. If the two options are selling him now for £60-70m or lose him for free in a year then it's a no brainer for the club to make that decision.

agree

Unpopular opinion, bit I think we are fucking idiots for letting him go.

Not the clubs fault , he’s been offered a new deal suitable for his ability. Unfortunately he acts like he’s prime zidane who is worth 300k a week when in reality he’s a workhorse and a passion merchant.
with that in mind we can’t let him go for free when we can take advantage of the hype he has from being english and get a good price, for a player who wouldn’t get many starts when everyone is fit.

Whatever the case, I have a feeling he will at least have a conversation with Pochettino to see what plans he has in mind for him before he finalizes a decision to leave.

This will likely drag on into July.

Mount was instrumental in our cl campaign of 2021, first under Lampard and then under Tuchel.
Subsequently he played in the euro for England and he was a disappointment.
From then on he was a disappointment (that makes two seasons).
It would be a lenient decision not to transfer list him let alone pay him ... Zidane wages.

This just goes back to what Sir Alex said about his club all those years ago, no player is bigger than the club.

From various reports Mount was given a long term deal (same as Reece) but the offer was declined....so there isn't much else the club can do.

Its good that the club doesn't want to face another Christensen situation where the player walks away on a free transfer, rather get some transfer funds that we can reinvest into the midfield.

I was under the impression we needed sales done by end of June in order for it to comply or be submitted numbers wise for FFP, I definitely could be wrong and it may only apply to buying, just something I vaguely recall.

In any case we know that we need unhappy or discontent players out of an already toxic situation.

Poch literally has no say given the club don't value what Mount wants. It's so simple. Mount's PR is also the best I've ever seen. You'd think the first thing that came out of Poch's mouth when he spoke with the club is "I want Mount to stay".

Just now Mount's PR is at it again saying Boehly changed his mind regarding the terms to the new contract after the World Cup. Literally every contract extension so far was quick and painless EXCEPT Mounts, and yet this is the club's fault?

Be a big miss I think.Yes he’s struggled this season with reoccuring injuries and off the field stuff (him & Gilmour with that stalker creep) but I think Poch would be the right coach to bring him on a lot. Even the previous season he wasn’t particularly great but there is undoubtedly a top player there if he can iron out a few things.

Every player has areas they can improve, Masons no different, wherever he goes with proper coaching and a free run of no injuries, he will be a top signing. All this talk of him being a money grabber is clearly bullshit also but not surprised. It always seemed to be about the duration of the contract before the WC which originally offered was 7 years. Fuck knows what is happening now but I doubt he’s wanting 350k upwards which you’d think reading some of the pish in here. Plus if CL clubs are willing to come in for him, he has that to think about. A lot of variables to consider as opposed to jumping to the he wants half a mill a week or whatever nonsense. Bit of uncertainty at the club too with how it is being run. Who knows what he’s thinking?

Personally think he will end up at Liverpool and he will do well. Or United. City maybe even be a slim outside shout if Gundogan goes but who knows really. Will be interesting thats for sure as he is a profitable asset to sell and we will have to do to ensure we get it in time for FFP.
