Barbara 15,149
I would love suarez here, .00001% of it happening though. lionsden 4,689
Jose Mourinho says he doesn't know if Chelsea will finish first or sixth next season and hints at more signings as he looks to 'rebuild' trophyless BluesHe knows we are still , even with the potential signing of Costa,Luis and Fabregas, below Man city in terms of quality. when people say things like "things will make Chelsea title favourites for next season now" I can't help but just laugh hysterically. If Mancity buys one or two top quality defenders it wouldn't even be up for debate at all. It's their rather shaky defence owing to Kompany's decline and Nastasic injury record and Aguero's injury problems that makes the gap look closer than it should be in reality.Toure,Silva,Fernandinho,Aguero,Zabaletta, Nasri and kompany (when on form, he's one of best defenders in Europe) are as good as it gets in terms of starting 11 quality goes and they still have players like Dzeko,Negredo,Sagna,Milner on the bench. I still have city down as fabourites for next season and barring another injury ravaged season for aguero, Kompany having another subpar season and Yaya Toure possibly leaving or causing dressing room unrest, they should walk the league. However football isn't played on paper and that's why we have a chance to win the league next season. Pizy 18,985
If you don't win the title, does it really matter if you finish 2nd?Well yeah, it sort of does in my opinion. Finishing 3rd for 3 consecutive seasons would show stagnation. That we have enough to compete for the title but don't have enough to win it.To finish 2nd, at least psychologically, you could reason that we made improvement. If we don't win the title but finish 2nd, win the FA Cup and make it at least as far as we did in the CL last season then I wouldn't be THAT upset. Fernando 6,591
If you don't win the title, does it really matter if you finish 2nd?I think what matters is improvement. So finishing 6th is not acceptable!

Rom2013 446
I think this is to avoid pressure.Chelsea next season will be a lot better, and I don't think any team can improve as much as us. City already had a great team (but next season 1 year older, and they are not kids anymore), Liverpool and Arsenal don't have the money to do a super team, and Man United... is a surprise they obviously will do a lot better but they were mediocre last season.Man City is the rival but right now they have problems with the best player (Yaya), Aguero has a lot of injuries, and they have the finantial fair play problem also. I think we will start the season as the first favourites.

lionsden 4,689
So City sort out their weaknesses they walk the league, we do the same and we still have a way to go? Despite the massive 4 point gap last season.I'm saying one of the reason the gap was narrow last season was because of injuries to key players and their captain having a subpar season (And it's very unlikely that lightening will strike twice again)They were much better than us last season overall both on paper and on the field. Fabregas, Costa and Luis are not enough to bridge the gap.

It was wide last season, but not now. Our better manager should tip the scales in our favorI disagreeToure is the best CM in the league, Silva is far and away the best playmaker in the league, Aguero is alongside Suarez the best striker in the league and Kompany (excluding last season) was the best defender in the league and Fernandinho is an absolute beast who has hit the ground running, at worse on par with Matic and a case could be made for Zabaletta being the best right back in the league. The quality in the starting 11 is ridiculous. They strengthen their defence and play anything close to their maximum potential and they would walk the league.
