The Mourinho Thread

I felt the players didn't know their roles, specifically the ones behind the striker. Oscar, Hazard and Willian kept swapping positions and this was making confusion and narrowing our play. Cole no longer overlaps like he used to and Ivanovic was making great runs at times but we kept playing down the center. I feel we need to keep the roles clear for now, let the players settle down and get a good understanding of each other.

In before the lock lol

mourinho will get it right, no available manager is better than him.

He's studying his players, he'll find the perfect system very soon and we'll start stomping people once again.

By this time next month, if the system is still not good.

Then i'll put my hands up and admit mourinho does not suit our team. But the likelyhood of that happening is 0.000000000000001%

Exactly. Again, anyone expecting miracles was setting themselves up for a fall even by comparing this team to Jose's team in 2004. We're a team in the process of being built and we have a winner at the helm doing it.

What he needs is patience and time from the owners and the supporters.

Mata is only our best player when he's playing the best football. He's not irreplaceable and to be quite honest Oscar has had an impressive start to the season now that he's been given the chance. I think you're completely wrong about Roman by the way.

He's not Brazil's number 10 (technically Neymar is, but hey ho) for nothing.

Oh yeah?

Does the name Torres rings any bells?

And that guy was and is useless!

How much more for someone like Mata? To the moon and back me thinks!

You see, Roman is like a fan. For him his player are the best ever and it's always the managers fault. Sort of like Mexico that always blame the coach after sucking ass! :D

I don't think the problem is Mata...it's the other players.

Like last season, Mata knew he would be playing alongside Hazard, Oscar & Moses. There was no confusion about which position they should play and due to the lack of options, the manager couldn't afford to 'chop and change'.

But this season, Mourinho just keeps changing the three AM's starting each game...and this is creating confusion amongst the players.

You can't expect Mata to magically play at his best if he doesn't know who will be playing alongside him...

why i use great is that, if jose aint great, then no other manager is great

Seriously, he's been a good manager, but how can you back that up with facts. What makes him so much better than other top managers?

He did two crazy things as a manager: he won the CL with Porto, and he won it again with Inter.

-At Chelsea, he had the absolute best squad in the league. Only Man Utd came close, and they beat him in the final.

-At inter, he had the absolute best squad in Italy, all the other major teams were recovering from the scandals.

=> Winning national titles with these teams is something nearly every decent manager would have been able to do.

-At Real, he had a phenomenal squad. Just look at the bench they had, most of those players would have started in nearly every English team.

Well, he made them play like shit most of the time. Sorry to say it, but it's true. Every time he played a good team, he made them play defensively, which didn't really matter against Barça for example, because I remember a sound 5-0 defeat. He just can't seem to come up with good tactics on how an offensive team should play.

Once again, i'm not saying he's a bad manager, he's one of the best of his time, but a lot of the buzz of him being viewed as "the special one" was created and strengthened by himself, being the funny guy during interviews, always acting like he's confident, creating news, creating feuds... If you look through that, you'll see that he only won 1 or 2 decent trophies in a 3 year Real run (where he was able to buy almost every player he wanted), and that he was practically spit out by what's almost the entire team near the end...

How do you replace 50m Torres ? As we have seen, Torres stays despite his inability to score, but all others are moved out, Sturridge, Lukaku loaned.

To say, Mata could be sold is just plain shortsightedness.

Yep. He's not an idiot. He knows that right now he has one of the best coaches in world football at the helm and the clusterfuck of last season was a result of a lack of patience - why else would he re-hire Mourinho?

I pray he has the patience that I think he does, and I hope the Chelsea supporters do too. It's at times like this when the wheat is sorted from the chaff because supporting a club isn't just about getting your new shirt with the gold Premier League badges printed on and the commemorative Champions League stitching.

You can't expect Mata to magically play at his best if he doesn't know who will be playing alongside him...

I don't. I just expect him to do a little better than he has done, and for me not to worry when he comes on.

Like I said, I like him and he was our best player over the last two years but I've not seen any reason for him to be selected over Oscar in the number 10 shirt. Oscar is playing well.

To say, Mata could be sold is just plain shortsightedness.

Not if there are adequate replacements. Oscar has shown that he is starting to fulfil that massive potential whilst De Bruyne seems to have all the tools needed to be a top-class player.

6 players for 3 positions is looking like a bit of a problem right now.

Fair enough. I will hold me head under water and hope 3 months from now are doing much better.

But like I said I still have the doubt of weather Mourinho is the right man in term of philosophy.

The philosophy has to be hand in hand with what the owner wants.

If one is pulling one way, and the other another way it will never work.

Still to sell your best, as Mata is, it makes no sense, at all. Those who think, Mata should be moved might as well stick to watching darts, instead.

Sorry to correct you, but I don't think anyone has said he should be sold only that he could be if he doesn't find a place in the team and other players begin to shine.
