The Mourinho Thread

Not sure where to post this, but I came across this excellent documentary:

Damn it was a nice watch. It did make me kinda sad to know that Didier would probably not get such an ending again though. That was seriously the perfect sendoff.

^ Smfh, I felt like smashing my head against a wall when I read this, I've been here since 2009 and that's the stupidest post I've ever seen and that includes bushman's material.

Mourinho going to United now wouldn't make any sense of any level whatsoever, literally no chance of it happening.

. A "new challenge" is going to a different league! (germany, france etc), not up north to win the same trophies he's won here

. There is no connection/affection or.. anything! in regards to Jose and United, he idolised Ferguson and they had a friendship. It's all about red nose, not the club he was managing. Mourinho was one of a select few people who knew Ferguson was retiring before it was announced.

. History - the idea that he would go there because it's United is laughable, on that basis I suppose he's off to Liverpool then

. Legacy - He's had two stints here now, he's Chelsea through and through, he knows how passionate and tribalistic football fans get and wouldn't want to destroy his legacy.

. Money - Mourinho is the 2nd highest paid manager in club football, because of 'Chelsea'.. United can't compete and won't.

He would never go from Chelsea directly to United, that wouldn't make any sense at all.

Makes me giggle when people say, especially those clueless scousers, when they claim United was Mourinho's preferred destination.

Another variable where it would see me not bothered if Liverpool continue throughout the years in mediocrity.

FORMER Real Madrid director Jorge Valdano has slammed Jose Mourinho

"I've never heard in public or in private a football statement from Mourinho worthy to be remembered," Valdano wrote, as quoted by Marca.

"He is a character tailored to these noisy and empty times.

"I couldn't understand him because he is in the antipodes of my sensitivity. Intelligence and ego are enemies. And when they collide, the ego wins."

And he thinks Mourinho's achievements pale in comparison to that of Guardiola.

"If Guardiola is Mozart, Mourinho is [italian composer Antonio] Salieri. He would be a great musician if there were no Mozart," he added.

Ouch.

I meant 5 years from now. When he's already won everything he can possibly when with us. But please don't reply to my posts anymore if you're gonna use that tone.

I get your point but having completed the club set of pretty much every major trophy from England, Spain and Italy, I think he would set his sights on something else. I suspect he may manage an international side. Can you imagine if he wins either a Euro or a World Cup or possibly both? His status as the greatest manager of all time would be unchallenged.

And that's exactly what I meant.. 5 years from now, or ANY TIME, beyond this point. As I already clarified with the poster above. All those points are applicable to any point in time from now.

He doesn't have a point. This idea that Mourinho wanted the United job was fiction to start with, it was Ferguson he had admiration for not United.

I don't think Mourinho will go to United but neither do I particularly agree with these points. He's ruthless and egotistical and we love him for that. But that also means if he thought managing United would be the best thing for his career then he would do it regardless of what us Chelsea fans thought (especially if he were sacked). With the last point are you saying United can't compete with us in terms of money?

Chelsea?' main and 'only' point was that he'd want a new challenge, which makes no sense as he'd only be repeating the same domestic trophies he's won here. Mourinho earns almost 1.5m more than Van Gaal, and it's not like Roman would be unable to compete with United if they offered him more. So yes, there is no 'money element'. I personally don't think he'd want to be known as a judas and ruin a BIG part of his legacy (which is Chelsea), he always showed the club and fans respect when he was at Inter & Real. Jose is practically synonymous with the club now, it would almost be like Ferguson coming here.

- Chelsea was a step up from Porto - Inter was a new challenge in a different country - Real was a step-up from inter - United would be a step down..

United could and would easily beat us on wages if it was about that particularly as we become more concerned with FFP. If we're honest Madrid to Chelsea is a step down but Chelsea to United wouldn't be. I doubt Mourinho will ever manage them but if he becomes available and they're in a need of a manager I would not be surprised at all to see him take the post.

I meant the part where he might seek a new challenge. He seems to have this insatiable appetite to achieve more. He doesn't get too caught up in the celebrations whenever he wins something because he is always thinking about the next one. I doubt he would go to United as it would be a step down when he succeeds here. He has already won it in England so that probably wouldn't be his idea of a challenge.

Becoming an international coach is not so far fetched as he did make comments about managing either Portugal or England. But I think that will probably be much further down the road.

No it wouldn't, and we're having no problems with FFP (what Jose said in the press recently is mind games, heaps the pressure on United). Mourinho is the second highest paid manager in world football, we are the status quo. You have no argument for United being a 'step up', other than their history.. the same arguments Liverpool fans have.

United could outmuscle us financially at the moment and FFP does maintain the status quo. I doubt money is his main objective though. I agree with you that I think he is ruthless enough to take it, but the circumstances here at Chelsea must be really dire if he would want to go there.

In my opinion, I think his time at Madrid really made him appreciate the fans that he has here. For him to forsake us would require almost everything to go wrong now.

It seems like you're really understimating the wealth and stature of United. If it were simply a case of money then there's absolutely no chance we'd outdo them (yes Jose gets paid more than van Gaal but if they wanted to make him the highest paid manager in the world they could do it easily); and if you think that United isn't a step up from Chelsea in terms of the magnitude and national/worldwide standing of the club then your Chelsea bias is clouding your better judgement.
