Nothing worked for him last night, he was sooooo nervous and his first touch was abysmal.

Was average but grew into the game the longer it went. He got into some good positions and offered others space, but he also had a poor first touch throughout the game

This is the only reservation I have on him. I never like attackers with bad first touch. Its so important in such tight areas.

I hope it was just down to nerves though.

Some of you need to realize that Costa is not going to be a massive goal-scorer for us (IMO atleast).

Those of you who say "one season wonder" - I'd bet that you're right stats wise, goals wise.. I don't think he's gonna score for us as much as he did this season.

But, its not only about the stats and the amount of goals, especially when it's for Chelsea.

We don't necessarily need someone who'd bang in 30+ a season, it's just not how we're set out to play.

Costa is always a threat to the opposition, always causing troubles, there's always a chance for him to score \ win the game. He is not like say Torres, who barely ever is a threat and doesn't even require much attention from the CBs.

There will finally be someone with presence in the box, someone we can cross to, someone for our attackers to find, someone to deliver to.

And he is also a WARRIOR, a fighter, not a fucking pussy who will lose hope and be lazy or whatever..

Even if he doesn't score 30+, he can certainly lead the line and I'm sure that he could do good for us and contribute to our game far more than Torres Eto'o or Ba.

He's also 25 and I dont think we'll pay 50m.. 30m would be a fair price and it wont be a Torres situation.

He is one of those players that would be amazing for Liverpool if they signed him but, would probably flop here.

Almost every.striker would flop here...that's chelsea's way...

Ancelotti explained it best. chelsea don't look to release the striker to run on goal like Liverpool do. one of the reasons why strikers don't score for fun at chelsea

We would but there is no one capable of doing that in our strike-force, so we can't.

Wait till next season

When we have a striker that loves to make runs behind defences like costa, and not a static one like torres, you'll see this more.

Just to remind everyone who seems to have forgotten some key facts.

Diego Costa has 41 goals & 14 assists in his last three seasons in La Liga, and for one of those he was not even playing as a striker. For another, he was playing in Rayo which is not exactly a top team. He has also scored and provided assists (and had some of his better games) against teams likes Real, Barcelona or Sociedad in the league. In CL he has scored against Porto and Milan (and others), teams that might not be the absolute elite but that are still worth mentioning.

Many of those goals have come from sheer will as much as anything else.

He has brute strength, he can finish, he can pass, he has an amazing work rate, is a team player, can head the ball well and is great off the ball.

Why exactly would he be a bad purchase? There is a difference between there being better strikers in the world, and there being better strikers available for a reasonable price.

He does not have a serious injury that could threaten his impact in the league, he still has his best years ahead of him, he is versatile in terms of positioning and would cost £32m which is very reasonable.

Forget Mandzukic, Falcao or Cavani. This is the only striker that we need to buy. Costa and Lukaku would be an excellent set of strikers, the best one we have had for quite a long time. Add Shaw and Gundogan (if MVG does not recover) and there is no limit to what our very young squad can accomplish.

Statistics can make Torres look like a top striker. Thats the beauty of numbers..

Costa is a cunt. Wouldnt want him here even for 10m.

Which numbers make Torres seem like a top striker?

No one is just showing one aspect while hiding another, statistics can be very revealing if you know how to use them.
