nadavTKL 1,787
Again, the fact that most inter fans are happy to see him go should tell you everything about him.Same thing will happen when Mikel leaves. What would you say about that?
Waterfall 893
I think yesterday's game showed how important Ramires is to our team and why having another driver in Guarin would be useful. When the game got stretched, Mikel and Lamps had the entire middle third to themselves but wouldn't drive through. Hell, Luiz and Cahill probably did a better job of bringing the ball forward. Coupled with our strikers being so useless, everything looked so stagnant.

When that happens, Fredy will accept the move..." (Metro) #CFCChelsea are said to be willing to pay £10m up front for Guarin, with the rest to follow in installements over the next 3 years. We Hate Scouse 10,327
Looks like its happening then. Not too sure what to make of it, the guys on the Inter forum seem more bothered about who's going to replace him rather than losing a quality player. Although there's a few that think he'll do really well...We shall see.

EBH 283
I will be very happy if Guarín is playing for Chelsea... he will be first Colombian I can remember seeing play for the club... maybe first ever? He is not a bad player... whether he is the standard for being key player in Premier League, CHampions League winning team, I cannot say.. but you ask, Kalou, Bosingwa, Meireles, Bertrand, Malouda... they are not so good, but they all have European Cup medal... We need squad players who aren't exactly world class to be a good team as well.
CHOULO19 24,332
Exactly. We need squad players who aren't exactly world class to be a good team as well. But you can argue that all of our options at CM atm should be squad players and what we need for that position is a world-class player. Plus 18m for a squad player? Then there's that he doesn't really fit a 2-man central midfield, and that there's better options available for about the same price or even cheaper...etc

Didn't someone bring up a stop gap point here before? Get him as cover for now until the season is over. I really don't see much point in over-paying for any world-class midfielder in January. Get Guarin , rotate him with the squad and get through until the end of it unless you want to go for a risky option and get a world-class CM. The only place to be 11,313
We have enough squad players like Lampard,Mikel and MVG(Even though he is injured right now). What we need is a world class midfielder or someone who has atleast decent playmaking ability. Who?Gundogan? Witsel? Pogba? Two of those players are scheduled to play one another in the next round so it's unlikely we'll get them for a competitive price. Guarin might just be the best available option that fits our budget.

Get Guarin , rotate him with the squad and get through until the end of it unless you want to go for a risky option and get a world-class CM.The thing is if we really want a stop gap then why not promote from within?Chalobah I am confident can help us out and Ake did not look out of place in the EPL or Europa league last season. Why not give them a chance? Is it really neccessary to spend 15m on a player who will be nothing but a mere stop gap?I know promoting from within is risky but at the same time it is very exciting and who knows the enthusiasm that the club trained player will show might rub off on the other players as well. After all this is a transitional season according to Jose. CHOULO19 24,332
I must have missed something, who's available for that price?Well from the EPL alone, I'd much rather someone like Schnielderline, Cabaye, Morrison..etc off the top of my head. All would not go for more than the rumored 18m and all would be dying to make a switch to a team like Chelsea.- It's rumoured to be closer to £15M which is a fair value for someone who will play quite a fit.- We don't know if he can or can't play in a double pivot position here.- We certainly don't know if there are better options available at similar price range. The Guazette who are the ones reporting this story say 15m plus bonuses = 18m. And again, this is my opinion from watching Guarin and I don't think he can play in a pivot and if memory serves he even played in a 4-3-3 with Porto so he hasn't played in this role before.
