He's wonderful yes but very irregular. Much like Ozil, he often got under Mourinho's nerves at Real Madrid because he shined one game and disappeared the next. I may get stick for saying this but he's not worth 60 million. And the people who say he is Real Madrid's engine, said the same about Ozil.

When Ozil went to Arsenal, everyone was quick to say he would easily become the PL's best player. One season later people have now realized that he wasn't as important to Real Madrid as everyone thought (even though he had the most assists of the team) and he also wasn't worth the money paid for him.

With Di Maria will be the same thing. He will be great for United but they will regret paying 60 million. People often think that players like Cristiano Ronaldo have it easier because they play alongside the likes of Di Maria, but it actually works both ways. Teams put so much effort into covering Cristiano that they leave spaces in the field for players like Di Maria and Ozil to shine.

He'll be great for United but he won't be nearly as good as he was at Real Madrid. And no, he won't help them into top 4 this season either.

Okay, this is insane. United finally going into Real Madrid/Barca mode here it seems. Will they finally start spending "whatever it takes?"

I figured he could be had for £45m. Maybe £50m at a stretch. But potentially around the £70m mark is crazy.

At least Torres won't be the most expensive player in the PL anymore.

And at least their cunty fans can no longer ramble on about the "United way."

£37m on Mata, £30m on Shaw, £28m on Fellaini, and now £60m+ on Di Maria. Plus whomever else they bring in.

Their wage bill has to be higher than City's now or at least will be by the time this window closes. RvP and Rooney are on north of £250k a week and Di Maria will be too.

United spend astronomically and the media wank themselves and praise them. City and Chelsea buy the titles though.

Not concerned by this. 4 goals and 20 assists is outstanding but look who he was providing that services to. World class players who knew how to finish. United do not have that.

Not to mention the difference in physical play between the leagues.

What are his stats at international level?

RvP and Rooney aren't exactly bad players to be crossing it into and setting up, though.

With the standard of defending at most of the PL clubs from wide areas I foresee Di Maria being extremely effective. Look at the joy that wide players like Hazard and Sterling get. Even a kid like Januzaj who isn't in Di Maria's league shreds the smaller teams up.

Thing I'm curious about is where the hell Mata fits in as a regular starter.

Rvp, Rooney, Chicarito can finish..

The amount quoted for Di Maria, for United, shows exactly the levels of desperation (so to speak) at United. They've realised now without playing in the Champions League this year, they'll have no choice but to take what they can get. So to speak. They're simply overpaying because no-one else wants to go there.

Just think about this....

If United sign Di Maria they'll have spent £200m in the last TWO transfer windows. Fucking mad.

And yet they still may have the likes of Jones, Smalling, and Evans regularly starting games for them in defense.

£37m for Mata

£28m for Fellaini

£30m for Shaw

£29m for Herrera

£16m for Rojo

£60m for Di Maria

+ a couple more likely

If us or City did that every journalist/pundit/manager/whatever would be up in arms trying to get Fifa/UEFA to ban or sanction us.

He's good but he's not one of the best players in the world is he? last season he was great, granted, but before that he was inconsistent and at times played like a headless chicken, people on Twitter act like he's the second coming.

Saying that he will obviously improve United , they desperately need more pace and energy in their team and Di Maria offers that. £50-60 million though... it's not too ridiculous when you look at how much the likes of Luiz, James, Bale and Neymar went for, but in the real world it's far too much. It's funny how some united fans are saying the price is reasonable when they slated us for signing Hazard for £32 million
