NishC300 1,865
Unfair? No. Don't completely disagree that his movement was decent but people are making it out better than it was. It was only decent at times. At times. For most of the other time he was on, he looks disconnected with others and still carrying that usual body language of not being interested. And speaking of movement, I actually couldn't believe what I saw when Hazard won a free kick near the halfway line on the left flank very very early on in the game. Hazard was looking to charge down that side with the ball and Torres suddenly decides to come over from the middle and run into a position and stood directly in front of the space Hazard was getting into. Also Torres had only 1 touch in Hull's box........ meanwhile Ivanovic had 6.
Amblève. 4,995
Did anyone follow the tweets of the official Chelsea Twitter during the game yesterday? After Lampard's goal there was this tweet about how Torres deserves special credit for winning the FK... no single word about it being Lampard's 204th goal for this club but a whole tweet about Torres winning the FK, smh. Mouri_Matic 560
He just had an absolute shocker yet HOW THE FUCK CAN ANYONE PRAISE HIM? Just because we were winning and playing well doesn't mean he should get recognition too because he didn't contribute anything. He had a few passes around, made some runs but again forgot to do the MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR A STRIKER, shoot!Doesn't even get into POSITION so other players can pass to him, just try to get involves and think himself as a CAM. The penalty was pure luck, only because of their idiot GK who decided to punch him and I don't think Torres even knew he was coming, he was going straight down once he felt the contact. For the free kick he actually jumped over the tackle so we were fortunate to get a foul. Then there is the 2nd half, did he even had a touch of the ball in that last 30 mins he was on the field? Still afraid to shoot. Need to be benched and get rid immediately, if he start against Villa then it is purely base on his name and NOT HIS FORM. Lukaku should be given a run against Villa. So can the fan boys please stop defending him, when we lose against a big team he will obviously get all the shit but when we win the next match against a crap team he would get recognition, he don't deserve it because he HASN'T EARNED IT. Popular Post! The only place to be 11,313 Posted August 19, 2013 Popular Post! Share Posted August 19, 2013 Amazing after the good mood around the Bridge yesterday, the return of the Special One, a great goal for our greatest ever goalscorer and an easy win to kick off the season that some people can still find the bile and vitriol needed to have a pop at one of our players. Fucking pathetic. Was it a vintage performance? No. But it was the first game of the season, he worked hard and did some good things. The fact that some people are bringing Sturridge up in this thread is fucking pathetic - are you guys not getting enough attention in the 'Oh look, Danny Sturridge scored so let's bring up the same old shit over and over and over again' thread?Seriously. Popular Post! Las7 951 Posted August 19, 2013 Popular Post! Share Posted August 19, 2013 It's making the presumption that Torres is the only striker in World Football who "works hard", I can tell you that once again it's Hull - a team which would likely be relegated with a Championship level defense. We already know Torres can do a decent job against such teams, but even against Hull he was basically never in position inside the box for a goal. I'd expect even Di Santo or Carroll to work hard and be about as effective as Torres against Hull, that's his level. I don't see any difference between Torres against Hull and the Torres who didn't manage a League goal in 6 months last season or in 24 hours of play the season before it. He doesn't know where to go inside the box; doesn't seem to want to make himself available inside the box; doesn't seem to know how to beat defenders inside the box; doesn't seem to know how not to take 3 touches and get crowded inside the box. His movement continues to be appalling inside the box, he continues to make himself difficult to find, he continues to fail to create opportunities to score. If he starts over 10 matches in the League for us this season and performs like he did against Hull it will cost us. Popular Post! olivertwist 23 Posted August 19, 2013 Popular Post! Share Posted August 19, 2013 Apparently work ethic alone is sufficient to be a first team player at Chelsea and justify a starting position. I know plenty of extremely fit and passionate Chelsea fans who had be willing to work their socks off for their beloved team even more so than blondie. should we sign them to a 175k a week contract and draft them into the first team too?. The Torres argument transition has been nothing short of embarrassment. went from, he hasn't had a proper pre-season and rest with us- The system and tactics doesn't suit him-Drogba is hindering him-The team doesn't create for him- He isn't loved and pampered like a poppy to protect his fragile ego and non existent self confidence-Malouda conspiracy- The magnificent achievement of winning a corner in munich- he works hard (a professional footballer earning 175k a week is praised for working hard rather than delivering and producing the goods) give me a lazy Zlatan everyday of the week.I expect the next line of argument to be "Atleast he wears a decent hairstyle and doesn't arrive late to training. At this rate, some people will probably start equating each pass he completes as goals. Bir_CFC 3,455
I'm confused. Why are people crying so much? Did you expect better and were disappointed hence the complaints? Or, are you pissed that some people praised a player you despise?
Las7 951
We expected Torres to be on the bench for the next few years, since he is obviously not good enough to be starter for a club of our caliber and no other club will buy him. No amount of huffing and puffing will change that - some consistent run of goal scoring form might change that but even against Hull it seems it's too much to ask from poor Torres Mouri_Matic

I didn't want to whinge about Torres yesterday because it was such a great day for Chelsea FC: Mourinho returned to the bridge, Abramovich reached out to the fans for the first time, and that first half performance was sexy (though against Hull...).. and just generally everything is pretty good at Stamford Bridge right now.. the atmosphere is back. But let's be honest, Torres is never going to hit the form that we pay/paid for, we just have to accept that we are probably stuck with him for a while and have to support him whilst he's on the pitch (which Chelsea fans have patiently since we signed him). BleedsBlue 1,549
When he does take the rare chance of his own,he screws up miserably. That being said he can be very unselfish at times which is a great quality but not one for a center forward. francozola

tmessy 139
listen, IDGAF if he doesnt score ALL SEASON as long as we played like we did in the first half. you can tell some players just arent used to eachother (the whole squad has been together for barely a month).just wait. torres or not, this is going to be a special year, you can see it. THAT is what we should be worried about. stop wasting your time. he worked hard yesterday. so cheers nando. the flow will come. so stoked for this new look chelsea. (really want to see Lukaku and Torres together. i know torres would draw defenders off of Lukaku and vise-versa.)but to end this rant. cant we just be ok with the squad? last time i checked none of you are the manager or owner of the team. so why dont we support ANYONE in a blue shirt. Chelsea FC is better than that. go blues! Kish9
