BlueLyon 9,359
Our main problem the last season was that we missed a "boss" in the midfield who dictates our tempo etc. I don't see how we have solved this problem so far. Hazard and Marin will be playing on the wings, Mata isn't defensive enough to be Mikel's partner next to him and Oscar hasn't shown yet that he's competitive in a European league. We rather should go after the likes of Moutinho who are experienced enough to be the missing part in our team.If Oscar comes, please we wont sign another midfielder of any kind. It will be death to all our youngesters including likes of Oscar,...We dont need Moutinho, Lampard is doing just fine and when he will not be on top level anymore, I hope among our youngsters, there will be at least one who will take his job in full responsibility and replace him good enough. Either Mata, Kdb, Oscar, Josh or Hazard. CechIva-Luiz-Terry-ColeMikel-LampardRamires-Mata-HazardTorresOscar, Cahill, Bertrand, Ferreira, Malouda, Meireles, Marin, Danny, Kdb, Josh, Hutch, Turnbull, Essien, Romeu, KakutaProbably, we will add at least another winger; Moses, Hulk,... and RB. Get rid of Malouda, Essien, Meireles and Ferreira and we get team of 24 players. Looks just right amount for me.
Hutcho 8,443
Haha you really want people to post their Fifa fantasy starting line up?Ok, i'll give it a go... Mikel-Lampard(Oscar------------------Mata--------------HazardHazard-----------------Oscar---------------Mata ) ----------------> any of them could change position e.g Mata in the middle, oscar on the right etc TorresWe may try and change Oscar into a deep lying playmaker, it's not that odd to see a Brazilian change positions in the EPL for example Lucas at liverpool, he used to be a CAM now he's a DM, Anderson at Man united, used to be a CAM, RW now a CM... so who actually knows. Also i promise not to do a fantasy starting eleven again. I just created a new thread where people can post all sorts of fantasy formations etc. Because i heard people were getting annoyed with all the lineup posts.... It's about a third of what they should be scoring. Some of that was due to having only two creative midfielders in Lampard and Mata but most of it was due to the poor form of our strikers. We got Hazard to fill the creative role, but losing Drogba makes our strikers even worse. Going into the transfer period, we needed a creative midfielder, a striker who can score regularly, and a backup RB. The Oscar signing, if it happens, really makes little sense. That's probably the position where we have the most depth as well as our best youth players and the price seems insane for a player who hasn't played in Europe yet. The Big Drog 1,110
De Bruyne won't play a major role in the upcoming season, Marin was signed as a squad player, so let's not refer to him as if he's going to be the first name on the team sheet. Even under the assumption AVB won’t play with set wingers, we still need natural wide men, and then there’s the argument of physicality, having all these similar small technical players gives us little to no balance/dimension. With the Hulk deal in the balance it's somewhat of a mindfuck, that we're supposedly going to splash out on another number 10.We dont know that yet. Im not saying Marin will be the first name on the team sheet, but he is a winger and a player who is capable of earning a permanent starting role at the club, however as I said earlier, lets not pretend that we are going to play with out and out wingers like Man Utd do. Why do we need natural widemen? I accept that width is important but Mata and Hazard are more than comfortable drifting into wide positions to stretch the opposition and the full backs will always provide width too. Why cant we win with small technically gifted players? Last season Man City won a league with a starting line up mainly containing Silva, Nasri, Aguero, Tevez and Balotelli. Only Balotelli could be described as a physical presence of those players. Hazard, Mata, Marin, Oscar, Torres. Only Torres could be described as a physical presence of those players. Mikel and Lampard are physically imposing players. Terry and Luiz/Cahill are physically imposing players, as are Ivanovic and Cech. No dimensions? Players like Hazard, Mata and Oscar will give us more dimensions than we have ever had before, genuine creativity and ingenuity. Ye Hulk would be great at the club, but if you were giving me the choice between Oscar and Hulk, I would take Oscar every single day of the week, Hulk is a wonderful player, Oscar is very special. Sheva. 5,373
Our main problem last year is that our strikers scored a combined 11 goals in the league. And this also goes back to lack of creativity. How many times did our strikers get free 1 v 1 or easy tap-ins like Rooney and RVP score every week?
FormerRussianSpy 163
I see him more as less of an attacking midfielder and more as a Lampard-esque CM playmaker with an eye for goal. The youtube videos are relatively misleading as they only 10s clips of him smacking in a goal, but they don't really tell the full story of his ability to read play, stretch the pitch, intercept balls etc. And for those who are worried about the space in the team for him, I think a massive problem we faced last year was squad depth. If we add squad players who are proven (Oscar is a starter for Brazil) but not guaranteed starters, it adds flexibility and tactical strength to our team. fAnta 107
Lampard wont leave. He is too much of a God here.Of the old guns Lampard isn't anywhere near as good as he used to be, we have to admit. I just think at this time, when we have better players, he should know his options will be limited. Don't play by name is what I say, but he will stay a season as other players still need to adapt. Ryan Fong 2,776
Forget about the formations forget about whether we need him or not right now.Now we have the chance to sign a 20 year old Brazil national team regular starter, future No.10, at the price of merely 20M pounds in current inflated market, we would be just stupid not to, let alone he is versatile enough to play in the double pivot and right midfield/wing.I would like to make a bet that if he stays at Internacional this year, his price will be sky high in the near future and all the top clubs will love to secure his services.Just my 2 cents.
