Oscar

“Not many Chelsea fans would agree with me on this, but I think the most important player at the club right now is Oscar. If you play a No10, you usually play a 4-2-3-1. If you play a No10, he usually sits back and lets the game go past him as the likes of Fabregas will do when he’s not on the ball. Or else, you’re Oscar, who will close down better than everyone else and push everything up the park and get the odd interception. Oscar hasn’t been there for a little while. They look dull and quiet and unable to take teams on. I suspect they need Oscar back at his very, very best.”

- Pat Nevin

Pat is such a fanboy...

At least someone on TV says some of the things the most delusional people in TC say here too, that Oscar is a key player for us :P

The interview was prior to the game I suppose?

He had a really good game and I am very pleased. He needs to take this to the Arsenal game now and put in a performance of the same level or better. If he hadn't played well last night the daggers would still be out, he did play well so building on this key considering people like Cesc and Hazard are well under par right now.

Just kick on please Oscar.

Pat Nevin really is a big fan of Oscar tbh though. He raves about him often. But it gets better.

Sources on the Chelsea training ground state that the squad felt the loss of Oscar was particularly key, as he is one of those rare attacking players who can keep things fluent, while also performing all of the defensive duties that Mourinho demands of forwards. In short, Oscar links things, both in play and in the tactical structure.

It's not even that these are my sentiments on his importance as well, but I love how this talk really annoys some people.

It's clear as day Oscar adds fluency and bite to our midfield. RLC and Cesc were both able to bomb forward at times last night because of how tactically aware he is,very few #10's are able drop deep like he does & plug in the gaps. We're a far better team with than without him. We've not only been missing his pressing and intelligence but his on-ball skills as well.

That said, it's not all roses with him. This is the season he needs to improve his end product, consistency beyond the new year & become a leader out there & early signs show this is the season it might all finally comes together for him.

What happened?

(Courinho) prob went missing - happens a lot with him

When Oscar is uninspired, which unfortunately can last for a long time, he still does the work. When Coutinho vanishes he completely vanishes.

Actually I misread his post. I understood something completely different. But thanks for answering

I know coutinho really well to predict which kind of game/season to expect from him 90% of times...
