We could have built something truly special around this guy. Some of you may call me crazy for saying that we have not done great things with Eden because he has titles in his cabinet... but it really could have been more, sooo much more. manpe 10,861 Posted March 4, 2018 Share Posted March 4, 2018 The false 9 thing only ever works for possession based teams. We don't use him as a false 9 in the sense that you would expect. I don't even know what his function is up top considering he is treated like a striker the team is used to playing with, but that renders him useless because he isn't a suitable striker for a team struggling with the ball, HE is the one supposed to help keep possession and carry the ball upfield to the striker. We have fit Morata and Giroud, but we play one of them for 15 minutes while trailing. I was against sacking Conte, but that was the worst display of football from us I'd ever seen. I'd have hated it even more if we got a result out of it since it would have justified in some way the manner of play. Conte is gone if we lose the Barca game, and Hazard is gone after the season. Rightfully so too. He gave it everything here, and we wasted him. I was shocked when he came, but I'm certain he will leave now. He is wasted here. Absolutely pathetic a club can let the fans talk like that about one of their players, especially when the club wants to consider itself a top club in world football. I am aware that it's aggressive on my part but only because I think the generalizations that are being made are quite uncalled for. You were talking about the last managers Eden played for as if all of them are Mourinhos which is highly untrue. That's why I brought up his comments from last season just to remind you that your generalization is inaccurate, not because I'm stuck in the past.
