🇧🇷 David Luiz

David Luiz is perhaps the worst defender Chelsea have had in the Abramovich years. You should all be delighted that a hopeless incompetent like him rates 50m.

Yeah yeah talent, drives the ball forward, long hair. None of that is useful whatsoever for a centre back. What kind of maniac manager picks a centre back for his attacking attributes?

50M for Lulz is absolute genius by Mourinho. With profit in January, the money from the Tv deals and sponsorships, 50M for Lulz and the money we already had in place for this summer, it's going to be one hell of a Chelsea team we are going to witness next season.

Hold on tight, it's going to be one hell of a ride.

He's been a good player for us, with the odd exceptional game. But no where near an 'exceptional' player. I'll always think Munich when I remember this guy, he was incredible that day, just like the other twelve that played apart that day.

But a fee in the region of £45m is great business, so thank you David and well done Chelsea.

I liked Luiz, he was different and I remember when we were playing very lacklustre and unimaginative football, Luiz was one of the very few who seemed to want to do something every game. People weren't putting it past him to become a future captain. For all his faults, I liked him. But it was clear he didn't fit anywhere in Mourinho's team - not a reliable defender, not exactly the kind of midfielder we want either. He surely will fit in another team with a different setup, it's just not us.

If the reported fee is correct, then it's a win win situation for the club and for him. He gets to play more, we just raised the funds to sign player(s) we can actually improve our team with. All in all, this transfer gets a thumbs up of approval from me.

This is a tough one...

For Brazil I have seen David put in Terry like performances - he had a few here, but couldn't match that consistency.

Calling him the worst defender ever is very harsh, but only to be expected from some people.

I have also watched (in person) some great goals and matches - I will always wish this guy well in the future (except against us)...

£50 million is amazing business.

Lets hope we invest wisely...

While I have doubts about the fee it's still PSG so I'm sure they offered an amount that was too good to turn down.

I'll remember Luiz as a unique defender that would have been very good had we developed our style of play beyond simply sitting deep with and counter-attacking.

Good luck to him.

I wish him the best of luck in Paris! David is a top quality player! and on his day he is one of the very best CB's in world football! he lacks consistency, but with Thiago Silva he always plays well! i have no doubt he will have a great World Cup and a great Career in Paris.

I think this is a good sale. Luiz's errors this year cost us at least 5 points. He has proved he doesn't have the concentration and positioning to be a great CB at Chelsea.

Rotate JT, Cahill, Kalas as CB's. Move Azpilicueta to RB with Ivanovic to play CB/RB. New LB to arrive..

What about the points he has won? By that logic, we should be selling JT after that own goal...

We had a higher win percentage without Luiz in our team this season, as well as 45% clean sheet record when he was there, compared to a 57% when he didn't play.

I love David, but these stats are telling.

Those stats can be misleading. There are 11 players in a team when that happens.

I'm not against the deal because at the end of the day I'd sell him without thinking twice if anyone offered 50mill, but I'm against the fact that people say he can't be a great CB. Minute errors are magnified, while it isn't the same for the rest.
