The other two parties who are being treated as the most serious bidders are the Ricketts family, who own the Chicago Cubs baseball team, and the owner of the New York Jets, Woody Johnson. At least those owners have shown that they can build successful clubs, though perhaps not exactly in the way or as quickly as their supporters want. Arsenal have spent 200 million last season and United continue to be the most expensive squad in the league. Only Liverpool have the right to complain about ownership spending, but even then, Liverpool players have insane wage/bonus incentives in their contracts so who knows how much they are paying them.
