and you think that they can make a better job than RA?

No idea. Depends on just how rich they are. Roman is SO ridiculously wealthy that Chelsea isn’t really a money making venture for him, it’s a pure passion project for him. He doesn’t need to bleed the club to line his pockets like the American owners of Man United do.

If some guy who’s worth tens of billions buys the club you could potentially see a PSG situation where he just wants to buy loads of superstars without caring about profiting from the club.

But anyways, I highly doubt it’s going to come to this. They aren’t going to yank away his club when they allow the likes of these murderous Arab regimes take over other clubs.

If Roman is forced to sell the club there will be a line a mile long of billionaires begging to take over. Mostly Americans.

Chelsea (the actual area in London) is the most popular place in the city for über wealthy Americans to settle. There’s a deep connection between Americans and that area. There will be numerous American billionaires who would be desperate to break into PL football.

Unlike some of the other big PL clubs who have had ownership changes over the past few years, Chelsea would be ready made and already at the pinnacle of the sport. No staving off relegation, no searching desperately for a manager, no years and years of rebuilding, no overpaying for average players to get to midtable.

A new owner would come in and already have a winning machine on their hands with millions and of millions of supporters all over the world (and here in the States in particular). As an American, I can tell you that this would be extremely appealing to and American billionaire.

I can imagine one of the NFL team owners would kill to take over Chelsea.

The problem is if we end up with an American owner like United, Arsenal and Liverpool have, there is a very real possibility we'll lose all of that edge.

I don't want to get involved on the political side of things and Roman has always cast a cloud over the club to some degree with who he is, but purely from a football position we have benefited beyond our wildest dreams for pushing 20 years with his investment. The jealousy from rival fans comes from the fact that our owner is in it purely for enjoyment and essentially as a hobby and as a result has never been afraid to back the club with his own money.

I know we're in a completely different situation to the one when Roman bought us and with more recent rules regarding financial fair play, etc the goalposts have changed somewhat but we still rely on his ability to pump money into the club to give us an edge in the transfer market (like what happened a couple of summers ago in the middle of a pandemic).

The American owners run the football clubs more as a business, and few have shown the passion and dedication that Roman has shown over the years to the clubs they're involved in. It's an investment and from the outside looking in, the feeling seems to be it's a lower priority than perhaps American sports teams they also own. It isn't a coincidence there's so much dislike from the fans of these clubs to their owners.

I don't have concerns over the club as a sellable and attractive entity to be purchased but I do have massive concerns over what we could end up with as owners if such a situation was to arise.

If that were the case I think you would already seen those owners looking to buy other teams. £2B is a huge investment. The Saudis got Newcastle for £300m. Stan Kroenke bought Arsenal for £550M. The Glazers have a total investment of £800M.  FSG bought Liverpool for £300M.

Times are much different now. Arse, United, and Liverpool were bought years and years ago. Newcastle was a massively depreciating asset and their standing was in the toilet. These days billionaires and their companies have unprecedented amounts of money laying around that they’re looking to spend before things change. Look at all the colossal acquisitions you’re seeing in the tech industry for example.

Like I said, as a London club that’s “ready made,” Chelsea is uniquely desirable I think. It being up for sale would be a once in a generation chance for an egomaniac billionaire to buy in to probably the most sought after sports league in the world.

one of the least informed posts I have seen in weeks

I also notice you completely ignore Trump, who not only was impeached over trying to get Ukraine to cook up false charges on Biden, but also blocked aid to them, and now is supporting and praising PUTIN

I did not ignore Trump's peculiar behaviour.
I 'm only stating that the issue dates from 2014.
If the 82nd was in Ukraine Putin would n't even dare.
If can't be done then declare Ukraine is neutral like Sweden and get over it.

We are just speculating but Shahid Kahn the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars bought Fulham for £77M. I think owning a London team is done for a lot less than £2B. All of these guys are wealthy because of good business.

In any case, I hope we never find out.

any direct engagement of NATO/US troops with Russian troops will very likely kick off WWIII

Well, ok, it's a question of who gets scared first.
The yanks or Vladimir Vladimirovitch ?
If there was somebody around like general Patton or Barry Goldwater could Ivan play bold ?

As for Trump and brexit they were stooges indeed, since they perceived Europe (!) as the big adversary and not Putin.

For all we know he could be completely against Putin’s plans.

I would imagine 90% of Europe is against what Putin is doing. But him being for/against what Putin is doing is not why this is unfolding the way it is with Roman at current re his assets.
