kiaretta985 131
a lot of those players know they may not be there next season and they played like it - what do they care if the club isn't playing in the Champions League next season if they're not going to be here!this was the trend under AVB too. Are they back to this behaviour?
Trueblue1982 48
Ive just read what everyone has been saying and i have to be honest and think everyone is over reacting. Its going to be tough granted but its not impossible, it could still be done. BUT if we dont finish in the top 4 no UCL next season i dont think it will be such a bad thing, it will bring more hunger and determination back what we was watching before, pre roman, and early years of roman. I went to Rome in 2008 when we got spanked by roma after spanking sunderland 7 and we was speaking then that it was a wake up call and this season has been exactly that with last season showing the cracks. Either way if we finish top 4 or not the squad will get over hauled, and we are still in a strong position to sign better players, as other people have said when city was building there project, we will be building our next project, roman will not walk not a chance, i think he has alot more pride than that. I think CFC as a whole inc MOST fans we have taken UCL for granted for way too long now, and maybe a season out will do us good, bring in a strong manager, one possibley two NATURAL wingers sure up the midfield, i can see an overhaul in the summer, but not a masssive one.Today was a poor game someone made the point that spurs set up for a point and it seemed like they knew they could turn the screw and possibly get the win and it was painful to watch at times. at least we didnt lose, 5 points behind spurs are on the rocks, i can see us in the top 4 this season, and it not getting over looked in the summer the problems we have.CAREFREE there is always next season UP THE CHELS .............................. CHOULO19 24,332
I'm surprised Frank didn't get any vote for MOTM. I thought he had one of his best performances this season. He controlled the tempo of the game in the first half and was crucial to our dominating the play. In the second half, he was really the only one that showed any intent going forward whilst everyone else seemed to had lost the plot. He played some excellent balls behind the Tottenham defense throughout the game and a couple almost paid off.Though he was overshadowed by both Cahil and Cech, he deserves some mention for his performance today, imo. I love Lamps, absolute legend, but he was abysmal - slow and off the pace, an unfortunate trend to his play this season. I don't doubt his commitment to the club but he hasn't got the legs anymore in a midfield which has always been built to accomodate his box to box runs. He's a shadow of the player 2 seasons ago and has been since he had that long stretch out injured last season unfortunately.

In the second half, our players looked like head-less chickens most of the time, someone needed to slow down, keep position and play a decent pass for a change and Lamps tried to do that. He also defended well and always made himself available to receive a pass. And most importantly he was still trying in the attack when others seemed to have given up. I really don't see much wrong with Frank's performance today.
HNKS 508
Other than our defenders and goalie everyone else played rubbish. Mata looks like he might need a rest. Sturridge wasnt as selfish, probably because he was on the left wing thus he couldnt cut across the goal and shoot with his left. Ramires is terrible on the wing. Lampard was ok but Essien had a terrible game. Torres and Drogba should have played together. At the end of the day is was a must win game. Liquidator 5,176
Don't get why everyone is so pessimistic about this result. We have had a shocking season with our worst squad for over 10 years but we got a draw with Spurs who have probably their best squad for 30 years and they still haven't beaten us at Stamford Bridge during the PL era. Not sure why Supa Frank didn't get that PK call his way & if that Mata FK goes in, everyone will be all happy & in jubilation. Gotta admit though, to get the draw CFC was a bit lucky. spudz hit the crossbar in both halfs. Bale did have his way w/ Bos & if it wasn't for Cahill spudz would have won. That tackle by GC on Adebayor was freakin' class.
MagicManMata 24
Disappointing match. I think we still have a shot at CL qualification however. Spurs are not exactly that far ahead, and we play Arsenal head to head. If we beat Arsenal, which is definitely within our abilities to do, things will quickly turn around. They still have a match against City (should be an L for Arse), if we hold serve in the meantime suddenly the gap becomes a mere 2 points. With 6 other matches still to be played. There is still hope! The only thing that worries me is our brutal schedule. I honestly don't see us beating any of Barca/Real/even Bayern, so a relatively quick CL exit may be a blessing in disguise. Superblue 6,372
Lampard was good today, people love to hate. The funny thing is Mata played poor yet people are reluctant to admit it.I far from hate Lampard, but I don't see where he played well today. Games seem to bypass him much more often these days and he doesn't have the legs in the middle of the park anymore to play (1) at full intensity for 90 minutes and (2) play 2-3 games in a week. Case in point was against Man City in the 85th minute he didn't have the legs to track Nasri's run for the goal, he just watched him run in behind. I just feel when he plays with Essien in the midfield, what was once part of the strongest midfield in the league now makes us look ponderous and weak. Can he adapt his game to play a deeper role for us á la Scholes at United. Maybe? But could he do that deeper role any better than Mikel or Romeu, both of whom have many more years within them? And I can hazard a guess Scholes earns nowhere near the £150k per week Lampard earns at Chelsea.Mata was poor today, and he looks tired and in need of a rest. Problem is we have nobody else anywhere near his level of creativity in our squad.
Naked Mole Rat 437
Lampard wasn't bad at all. He seemed like the only player in attack and midfield who seemed to be doing anything useful. Anyway, MOTM: Cahill for me. An incredible player.
sainttourist 68
We all expected more, but it seemed like they gave it all before. Ever Rami stoped. Players need a good rest. This calendar will destroy us.

kingofchelseadom 41
Holy crap! The comments are really cutting in some areas. AVB is gone and what did you expect? I have no idea how long some of you have followed CFC? I bet that a while ago no one would have picked CFC to win back to back titles, FA CUPS. So supporting a club to me is grinding out the hard times. They have played a lot of games over the last week. Napoli then an FA cup tie. Man city then Tottenham, know we have Benfica. We do not exactly have the resources in the team. Players get tired. this season was always going to be nasty. So put some faith in the club itself.Champions league qualification is not a pre-requisite to joining a club. When Chelsea started to become contenders under Ruud, Vialli where they playing Champions league? Whoever Mangers CFC next season will have his consortium of players. Let this season ride out and let Roman and the Board do their job. I am sure things will work out. Chelsea is too good a club to lose status.
