That fake story has been doing the rounds since at least 2006! It's nonsense.

Lampard is 35... like thirty-fucking-five... And talking about old, this is the oldest thing in the game: older players take longer to hit form. He's a tall guy too and that goes against him.

They just can't ripe the benefits from their workout in practice as easily as the younger players do. He was able to hit form and perform at at very high level for many games (only) late into last season. I expect him to - eventually - do the same this season, but perhaps for fewer games.

It's really up to him to keep playing at this level or not, because at his age it's all about sacrifices.

The man is a legend, but it's time to step aside.

He should be really thankful Jose made that phone call when he was about to sign for Galaxy after AVB, di Matteo and Benitez tried to move him on.

We looked great tonight with a proper DM and a speedy box to box player to connect our back 4 to our attack.

He should get a few minutes here and there but, at 35, he is no longer physically capable to perform at the highest level, no matter how determined he is.

I like how Jose turned to 4-3-3 when he subbed him in. I think he's starting to realize that he can't play in the pivot against any team with a decent midfield.

And/Or maybe because he just want to keep things tight and compact with that narrow lead in midfield.

He kept him in the pivot when defending the lead against both Hull and Villa. But I guess the future will tell.

We were already 2-0 up against Hull and Mourinho probably thought there was no need to change to 4-3-3 to defend the lead. But yeah..

Got to be back for Spurs ,Rammy - Obi stunk again yeserday . Rammy does not quite have the quality for the more advanced role but does have the legs, bite and simple pass ability to compliment Lampards natural match winning abilities.

Van Ginkel had a 95% pass success rate v Basle it is not difficult and Rammy can match that if told to keep it simple and to time his lung bursting runs with Lampard dropping off when he does.

Rammy and Mikel would leave us very vulnerable in this fixture ,I still have visions of West Ham away last season where we were dire.
