Yeah. Thought he did alright. Wasn't at his best but neither was he bad. And it doesn't help when we just seem to lump the ball up to Ba and bypass the midfield half of the time..

Hardly involved after the break, but that was more down to the way the team approached the game after that.Chelsea played mostly on the counter and like Bluesmaster said, the team often bypassed Oscar and Mata in midfield in favour of pinging the ball to Ba.

was not that good. only really good "mata" moment was when he played that awesome ball to oscar who shot the ball closer to the thrown line than the goal. was unable to control the game too. very unlike-mata performance.

Oscar spent more time in the wings than Mata did though. Mata played mostly as our CAM today.

I really feel those stats are nonsense.... but well, whatever. He did assist Ba in that incredible goal he missed in the first half, but that was the only chance I remember he created for us

I missed most of the 2nd half, but in the 1st, Mata was largely anonymous in attack but still created a clear cut chance for Ba. And the stat above said he created 3 in total.

That is simply what he does better than anyone else on this team - if there's a game Mata plays and we manage to create less chances, then it's only going to be worse without him on the pitch.

The only problem in your argument is the simple fact Mata isnt our best creator anymore!

Oscar scored, gave an assist to Hazard, created a big chance for Schurrle to score and almost scored twice if not for a horrible finish. Everything put together already surpasses what Mata did the entire game (and I didnt even had to touch on his denfensive attributes)!

People love to moan about Mata and how he will magically fix all our problems, but the truth is Juan is still not 100%. And because of that, Jose is absolutely right in keeping Oscar as our starting CAM...

Mata has proved for 2 seasons he's our best playmaker. Come end of the season if Oscar is playing at a level even remotely close to Mata in previous seasons, then i can entertain a different idea.

Also Oscar's pass was intercepted, only for Hazard to steal the ball due to a bad touch. Nevertheless an assist on the counter is not the same as when the opposition have everyone back. Oscar is decent/good at this, Mata is at a level close to Master Ozil. So to say he isn't our best creator, because of 9 games this season where he's had an inconsistent run in the team is just jokes.
