I would be surprised if he is meaning Mata as a winger cause that is wrong.

I really think Mourinho will move Oscar to the double pivot and thus Mata can play in the advance role.

If Hazard has received numerous chances to prove himself (which he deserves ofc) then why doesn't Mata get any? Also who says Mata can't improve his work rate? Robben improved his under Heynckes.

The thing is Hazard is the one of the best in his positon atm, Schurrle/Kevin haven't played much better than him yet. While Oscar is on fire so Jose got no reason to drop him, meaning Mata has to sit out. Don't shoot me but I see this is very similar to the Casillas situation at Madrid. Injury, out of the team, Lopez too good and never came back in. Same could be happening to Mata now if he doesn't impress Jose soon. It will eventually get to the point that one or another will have to leave and as long as we continue to win, that man will be Mata unfortunately.

Yep but to be fair our system last 2 seasons have been built to suit him though. I am sure if Hazard was to play CAM and Mata swapped place with him on the wing, Hazard would probably still got similar number of goals/assists while Mata would be reduced significantly. I think Jose want Mata to play RW like he first said but Mata is not capable to play there atm because he hasn't played on the wing for a long time. I hope he proves Jose wrong and impresses on Wed or he will be benched next week against Spurs.

Btw we never really gave Oscar a chance. Last season Oscar was just as good as Mata in 11/12 imo and it was his first season.

Love Juan he needs to play more and I hope he does prove Jose wrong I really wanna see the trio back together I feel that was when we were at our most fluid plus his service from corners are brilliant.. His composure in the final third for that pass or shot is also best bar none in our league I feel.. I trust Jose but i feel he is getting this one wrong not saying he needs to play over Oscar but does need to be on the pitch.. they both do.. Hopefully we can see it sooner rather than never

It's so ironic, we have been pining for squad depth and competition for places ever since we stripped our squad after the double, and now we have it we are moaning.

I love Mata but he should should not be exempt from having to fight for his place because he is a nice guy, if you want a team full of triffic lads follow Harry Redknapp and support whoever he is managing. Every player in this squad (even Cech now could have some bench time if he has a wobble) is fighting for their place in the team and Mata is no exception.

I agree. He has been fantastic it seems so random that almost instantly he has been shunned by Jose. I think Oscar is very good too and If possible would love them both to be on. Felt very sad seeing David and Mata not even on the bench

We have 6 places in attacking midfield, 3 will start, 2 will be on the bench and 1 will miss out completely. I really don't understand the knee jerk reaction's him missing out Saturday. It was Schurrle against Basle, Willian against Everton, KDB against Bayern and at Swindon it will probably be Hazard (maybe Oscar too with someone like Boga filling the bench place), against Spurs i will guess KDB.

Ricardo Carvalho and Eidur Gudjohnsen were key players in Jose's last reign but were occasionally left out of matchday squad's. When we had the 4 wingers in Duff,Cole, Robben and SWP one had to miss out altogether each time, just be happy we have a strong enough squad to do that. We cry when our squad's weak, and we cry when it's strong, the club can't win.
