BleedsBlue 1,549
The Spaniard is not having the best time this season. He's being played out of position and hasn't been getting much game time because of the quality players we have. So,its important that we accept the situation and be prepared for his departure in the summer. It'll frankly be the best solution for both parties.Mata is a class player and he'll be an important part to any team, especially PSG. Mata's vision and creativity would provide some great service to Cavani and Ibra. Also, what's important is that Mata will start enjoying his game again. He's an amazing player and deserves to play every week. Popular Post! remains of the day 564 Posted December 31, 2013 Popular Post! Share Posted December 31, 2013 I’m really not understanding some of the points being made on Mata's value. People are bringing up his quietness and marketability – of course, there are some cases where a player’s marketability is a factor in their transfer fee – i.e the Kakas, Ronaldos, Ibras and before them, Beckham etc but that's not always the case. ‘Quietness’ certainly didn’t stop us from agreeing to pay a fee of 30 million for Willian, a player who i’m sure not many of us had watched more than a handful of times. If Willian - who has spent the bulk of his career playing in the Ukrainian league & Russian league and with career stats that aren’t exactly all that impressive mind you - can go for 30 million in the market, you’d be hard pressed to argue that Chelsea can’t command 5-10 million more than that for Mata. Particularly in the current transfer market, which is very much a seller’s market.@Peace. This point you raised......“all the players we have decided to part ways with have had the possibility to go quite easely. Kalou, Malouda, Bosingwa, Alex, Anelka, Belletti, Joe Cole, Ballack, Deco”....that’s a big question mark for me. Of course you’re right that when Chelsea sees a player as being surplus they tend to move them on for a very low fee or just wait until their contract expires. But like @Mak already mentioned, those players ….i.e Drogba, Ballack, Deco – these were all players in their 30s. Mata is only 25 years old and coming off the back of a remarkable season. His situation is not at all comparable to those players that Chelsea basically let go for nothing. The only player that Chelsea sold that we can use as a comparison to Mata, is Robben. But just look at how much the club sold him for, 35 million euros. Considerably more than the 18 million (euros) fee that they paid for him. In Mata's case, the club made a huge investment of close to 30 million euros and in just two seasons he’s emerged as an elite player - 35 assists and 20 goals last season....he's an elite player make no mistake. Quietness? Please. This is a player who many pundits agree was one of the best players in the premier league last season and he’s only now entering his peak years. There's much more to come from him. If the club decides to sell him they’d surely be looking to secure a significant profit on him and would be well within reason to ask for more than 30 million. kellzfresh, The Mak, Mufassir08 and 4 others

Sheva. 5,373
He won't be sold now, or our depth chart will be really fucked with KDB also leaving. Just play him more in the home games vs the lesser teams, and find a solution in the summer.
Namika 922
He's not playing at the level of Willian, Hazard and Oscar.
The only place to be 11,313
We look better with him not in the team right now. Him and De Bruyne simply don't seem to play with the same speed as Willian, Oscar and Hazard and there's an intensity that is missing without those three. He's probably here until the summer but sometimes players don't fit systems no matter what you do. robsblubot, Barbara, The Skipper and 1 other
Zoro 151
We can get a lot more for him now then we would in the summer. Sell him and buy a striker I say.
DoubleO 192
Mata..... I like him very much but he looked like a clown today. He moaned when he was substituted, then Oscar did 1+2 in 30 minutes. Seems like Oscar actually fits our system better than Juan. I really like him, but looks like we might sell him in January. At least we get some funds to buy a striker / CDM. Shakez 755
Im gutted for the lad, football can be ruthless if you at a top club. Can't see us selling him now though because we still need him. Willian Oscar and Hazard can't play all the time. JDY and Barbara

Special Juan 28,141
If he has a gripe he needs to take it up with Jose out of sight of cameras, not whilst being subbed for Jose to see later.Everyone has to fight for their place, Mata ain't no different. Popular Post! The Skipper 20,609 Posted January 1, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted January 1, 2014 Pains me to say this but he should leave for the sake of his career, Mata is and will always be a brilliant player but he isn't playing in his favoured position and he isn't useful out wide on the right. He doesn't fit into Mourinho's system either, and we can fetch quite a bit of money for him, so I think for the mutual benefit of everyone he should leave. Beigl 1,387
Im so sad for the lad.I remember his first game for the club when he scored deep into stoppage time against Norwich,I was so happy for him, because I wanted Chelsea to sign him long before. The rest of his Chelsea career was tremendous until Mourinho signed for the club again. He clearly doesn't fit into Mourinho's system.Altough I think Mata overall is the better player in comparison to Oscar, the brazilian is the much better coice for the system Mourinho looks to implement.

I don't want to speak it out,but it would be good for his career to move on and get back to spain.
Jype 6,398
Was sad to see him so upset but like the final score clearly showed, it was all for the good of the team and no one should have any complaints. He just doesn't fit Mourinho's system and for everyone's sake it might be best if he's sold when his value is still high.
RamiCFC9 258
With Jose the club as a whole is going in a good direction, in 2 years maybe we could be as dominant as Bayern but only if we don't sell our top players. Mata can kiss goodbye to his starter days but I think he could still play a significant part in the club's success because although he isn't Mourinho's type of player, he is still top footballer and could win us many, many points if plan A is not working in a particular game. Waterfall 893
I absolutely love him, but he has to earn his playing time just like any other player. Willian has played himself into the first team, and Mata should try to do that himself.
Cech's helmet 220
He's a no10. he's too slow to play on the wings. Mourinho should play Oscar as a CM with Mata as no10 with Willian and Hazard wide. Why Oscar doesn't play in midfield, blows my mind. the lad makes the most tackles in the team and wins the ball as much as Ramires does. it's no brainer he should be playign in the middle of the pitch.Oscar-RamiresWillian- Mata-Hazardwhat do Lampard and Mikel offer than Oscar doesn't? he defends better than both and he attacks better than both. he can be our new Lampard in cm. The_Flash 1,144
He was one of my favourite players and definitely deserved his player of the year awards but its hard this season. Obviously being so publicly snubbed from almost the beginning and at first I couldn't understand why Jose didnt like him. It's going to hard for him and its hard to keep coming in and out of the side to get back to form. However today given a chance and in all honesty he was pretty ineffective. I was surprised by his reaction to comin off. He slammed his seat down. Then worse for him the TWO people who replace him BOTH score. It's a hard one. I feel bad for him and really like him but at this rate I can't see him staying at Chelsea.
Popular Post! BlueLion. 21,491 Posted January 1, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted January 1, 2014 His petulant attitude when he came off was very disappointing. Mourinho is the boss, and he has been totally vindicated in playing Willian and Ossie recently. Mata hasn't been good enough in any capacity; either in an attacking sense or in doing the defensive role the other options do. Totally backing Mourinho's decision, especially since it is his team to manage, and he made the decisions that won us the game. The club recorded a brilliant victory today. That's Chelsea FC, not Juan Mata FC. If he wants to sulk, he can go and do it elsewhere. £35 million from PSG would be a nice little bit of pocket money for the summer, with financial fair-play and all that malarkey. Awful attitude and and a bad, bad example to the youngsters watching. I thought better of him than that, very disappointed in his attitude. The only low point of a wonderful afternoon. hjperdeath, Sidzeret, The only place to be and 10 others
