Fernando Torres

It's annoying because since he arrived last year in January up until the end of the AVB spell his situation was really tragic. However ever since Robbie stepped in he has improved significantly and I dare to say he has done okay, scoring regularly. I'm not saying there is no room for improvement, there obviously is and it is a big one until he becomes the player we paid 50mln for. What upsets me is that it appears that our fans are oblivious to his improvement and they have probably developed a habit of bashing and blaming him to the point it feels they are not watching our matches and are just going to the forums and post "Torres sucks, new striker please".

I mean seriously, yes, he has been better since RDM came but hes stil FAAAAR way from being a starter for a top club like us and will never be that either. He may work as a squad player but to have someone like him, with his huge wages as a squad player is just dumb. I wouldnt even want him as a squad player as he isnt that player who can come in and score late goals.

Some people mention that he has scored many goals this season, but seriously. He has played almost all games for us this season and got 7 goals in 17 games, only 1 in 4 cl games. Compair that to other top club strikers and you'll see that its not that good. Most of the goals also came in the begining of the season. Right now he's back to his shitty form.

The Fernando Torres I saw last night was by some distance our best player. Funny how well he plays when you watch the game live, you really do appreciate his movement more.

Torres was poor last night. Even his link up play was not that good. His first touch let him down constantly, was probably the most dispossessed player on the pitch. Sturridge offers just as more with link up play and movement IMO.

Another thing - those ten minutes after the goal when Torres was playing with some sort of confidence? Sturridge plays like that every game, regardless of whether he's scored a goal or playing good or bad.

Torres set the expectations so low with his first year and half that some people who have a selective memory seem to forget what he was bought for. Scoring every 250 minutes on the field is not a good return - RvP scoring and assisting 3 goals for that same amount of time. Torres is being paid like a World Class player yet he is just about "decent" - if the club wasn't a slave to his big name and status it would be fine. I have no problem having Torres in the squad even on his 175k p/w wages. What I have a problem with is the fact we didn't buy a striker in the summer to compete with him; we also send out Lukaku on loan because he would not receive enough time on the field for us; we are not playing Sturridge. He simply has not proven on the field he should be an automatic first choice striker and the insistence of playing him so much instead of rotating him when he is not especially effective is baffling.

Absolutely right. Sturridge is an optimist while our man Fernando is a pessimist.

a striker who plays for big teams like chelsea should be able to resuce the team in some big situation not like score some goals here and there. just imagine we were city last match against qpr and consider torres instead of aguero or dzeko :D ..should i need to go on....

I understand everybody frustration but I don't see anything that chelsea can do other than trusting torress. He is an underperformed striker who is making crazy salary. He is virtually unmovable.

I also don't think rdm trust sturidge, once rdm took over from avb, he barely played any game for us.
