zolayes 14,489
If Ramires can rediscover his form of 2011/2012 (that season i felt he should have won the POTY ahead of mata), I wouldn't mind him as a solid squad option however £25m is alot of money and there's no guarantee nor indication that he can rediscover top form. Its strange his decline in form coincided with Jose's return but he is now almost untouchable Henrique
CHOULO19 24,332
What we thought (feared)? http://www.marca.com/2014/06/08/futbol/equipos/real_madrid/1402216571.htmlVery obvious. Jose considers Rami a key player.
CHOULO19 24,332
Its strange his decline in form coincided with Jose's return but he is now almost untouchableThat's the thing, though. Jose does not consider Ramires to be off form because he judges on different basis than we do. We tend to judge him on separate incidents in matches that stick in our memory after the game like a few missed passes or a hopeless shot. But I think Jose judges him on what he wants from him: Dynamism, energy in pressing, tactical discipline...etc. I think if Jose can have two Ramireses in the pivot, he wouldn't hesitate for a second. Popular Post! bababoom 4,478 Posted June 10, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted June 10, 2014 I don't know why people want him gone, he would be a fantastic squad player who adds the legs and stamina in the middle of the park, lets be honest last season he was good in the big games, it's only in the small games (when teams sat back) he became frustrating to watch. We all know Ramires hasn't really got a football brain or ability on the ball, but he gives us options. I guess for me he's just a frustrating player, a little like Kalou - lots of talent, but cannot string it all together...A squad player is fine - but for £25 million + - I would sell him and look to the youth guys to come in and provide cover... To be fair to him he wasn't bad at the start of the season but his touch and decision making became laughably bad in the second half of the season. You can't teach the sort of athleticism he brings to the table but his lack of ability sometimes is frustrating as f*ck. I'd keep him because I know there are going to be games next season where we park the bus, defend really deep and he'sproven to be useful in those games. kellzfresh, Madmax, Jase and 3 others

Would like to give him another opportunity next season to see if last season's rubbishness was just him going through a bad patch. Can understand all the frustrations (as I too have complained about it) because when he's bad, he's really bad with all his deficiencies getting exposed but like you said, on his day, Ramires is extremely useful and good. We have all praised him for his performances before, let's not forget that. LAB, DYC., Styles and 1 other
Jype 6,398
I'm thinking if we move back to 4-3-3 we would again get the best out of Ramires. It's no surprise his best performances in a Chelsea shirt were in the 11/12 season when he mostly played in a midfield three alongside Meireles/Lampard with either Mikel or Romeu behind them to cover. Would most likely fuck over Oscar if we started playing a midfield three of Matic, Ramires and hopefully Fabregas but if the team's performances were starting to be good again, I really wouldn't care. Gilvorak 3,734
Imagine Ramires, Ronaldo, Di Maria & Bale on the counter. Carlo has the right idea.He wouldn't have to play deep with Modric and Alonso on the team as well. robsblubot

He's too good to sit so deep and we need to regain possession higher up the pitch - Matic can help with that too.But that's a technicality: just put them in the same line and I get your point. If we put them in the same line, then who is gonna play the defensive role? With Ramires, he won't be limited to defensive duties alone. Also Matic could be the one to initiate our attacks. He may not get as much assists as we've seen, but this season is much better than the pivot,if you want to include Fabregas.

Who sits deep for City? Or Madrid? I reckon Matic is too good a player to tell him to sit deep as a defense protector, and he should have the freedom to move about and fight for the football up the pitch.Reckon playing a deep defense line already poses some challenges, so we need to have our midfield move up the pitch a bit, otherwise we will be sitting too deep. Or we will be too spread on the pitch, with players too far from each other, affecting pass completion and therefore possession.

Barbara 15,149
Its strange his decline in form coincided with Jose's return but he is now almost untouchableI don't think his decline coincided with Jose's return... I mean not entirely. I still believe the previous season was the odd season, not the norm. He somehow produced beyond his capabilities. Sometimes it happens with athletes in many sports. But his first part of the season (2013) was actually a good one - a realistic one. I think that is the best Ramires can offer to us. He was consistent back then even if some of his chronic issues were still there (bad passing - but it wasn't at its worst; yellow card machine; lack of football brain). That's the Ramires we could realistically hope to see imo. The Ramires of 2012 is a once in a lifetime thing imo.I think we should keep him. I think a player like him as a squad member adds value to the team, after all, sometimes we may need stamina and athleticism. There are some matches that ask for that and as I said in my previous post in this thread, he does give his best every minute......................Matic....................Ramires.....................FabregasThis could be Jose's plan against the bigger sides. No chance he is letting him go.the triangle would be inverted imo - or at least it should. No more Ramires near the wing and adventuring himself in the attack.I'd be completely crazy/ecstatic if Mourinho dropped his beloved 4-2-3-1 (something I don't think he will) and moved to the 4-3-3 instead. Then I think this should be the midfield against 80% of our opponents - which are bottom and mid-table teams and small/medium force Europe teamsMaticOscar - Fabregas But when we play stronger teams, or when we need to defend a result (in an away leg for example, after winning the home leg) we could invert the triangle and replace Oscar (or Fabregas, it'll depend on their form) for Ramires.Matic - RamiresFabregas (Oscar)I won't be an hypocrite and deny that Ramires helped us win those big matches we won, but his presence shouldn't come with the price of limiting our attack beyond it's already dreadful limitation. We weren't much creative and Ramires had a big part in that in the matches he played in the wing. I'd rather Matic to go forwarder than Ramires. He's a natural DM but even him has better vision and pass than Rami does. Sidzeret
