this is only a glorified friendly. no reason to overrate the significance of de Rossi's game with regard to his qualities as a player. I think it is rather in his favour that he scored an excellent header and created the winner with an amazing pass.

What a pass to Marchisio for Giovinco's goal, shows off his more creative side. Italy weren't very good but still won.

In all honestly it was a superb game to watch last night. Japan unlucky though. Honda looks decent and Kagawa was MOTM in my opinion.

well if you want to regard competitive games...de rossi has been nowhere near his best for 2 years for AS Rom.

Can that Alcantara play in this position?

I think he can but he's more of a CM rather than a CDM ..

His best qualities are probably his passing vision ball control etc ... so it'll best show in a more forward position.

De Rossi is something else. Classy guy. Wish we could buy a young Pirlo for the holding midfielder role, the geezer is an animal.

I'm always so amazed watching him play, even though I have seen him put in the exact same amazing performance dozens of times.

I want him to join us so bad it's ridiculous!! He would scare the shit out of BPL teams.

I loved the versatility he's shown. I say pay 40m or whatever for him I DON'T CARE!

For luck.

As if it's working for him!
Maybe he can try shaving that beard, 'cause without it he won the WC, Coppa Italia and played CL football.
