I just really, really despise the fact that this would fund Tottenham for a while. Ugh, makes me sick thinking about it.

Just remember that yes, they may be able to use the huge money on players' transfer fees, but they'd still need to pay huge wages as well. They can't do that under their wage structure.

That's why I'm not as worried about paying them £35m+. They may be able to attract GOOD players, but not GREAT players like we can.

Yes but no matter who they buy (it's not like you can get a lot of great players with £40 million) they wouldn't have as good a team as we would have with Modric and Hulk in the team.

But they could get into the Champions League with those new players and that will give them more money, helping them into the Champions League next season. It only takes a small snowball to start a giant one.

that's the closest to snowballing into a great European club they will ever get.

No ECL means no high profile transfers for them. we might give them money to strengthen their squad but there's no way they'll find a good enough replacement for Modric.

Not saying we shouldn't buy him, more that we shouldn't offer stupid amount of money to a rival, with a former scout that can find diamonds in a pile of crap scenario. I think we do need to get a creative player in the middle, but it shouldn't a player costing us stupid amount as well as fudning a team on a spree. We were lucky Liverscum had no brains when they had fifty million to spend.
