Derby remain adamant they have had no approach from Chelsea for Frank Lampard. 

“We have made it very clear to everyone - but most importantly to Frank himself - that we want to retain him at the club for the long term," said Derby owner Mel Morris.

"If Chelsea want to hire Frank, then it is in their gift to make an offer in pursuit of that. In the meantime, we will continue to put our best foot forward to continue with our plans for the coming season.

"We will work closely with Frank in that regard so that he knows how much he is wanted by everyone associated with the club.”

Why do people still believe every thing that is written in the media. 

I am sure the club has the replacement down who would join us at the apt time so that he does not need to miss any pre-season days with the players.

Just because we haven't made the approach, doesn't mean we aren't 100% sure on Lampard. Lots of reports stated we'll make the move this week. And besides, we just like to take our own sweet time...

When was the last time the board did something in an efficient manner? They were likely sorting out the situation with Sarri and Juventus in past weeks and now that he's confirmed gone, they can move on to securing his replacement.

The board knew they were going to sack Conte back then and it's only the disagreement over the payout that dragged on till July. So it's obvious that they had needed to go for a replacement. Different case with Sarri, who the board didn't mind keeping but also willing to let go as long as Juventus pay up the compensation, which of course they did. Would have been awkward if Sarri to Juventus suddenly didn't happen and we still had a manager while busy chasing for a new one.

Unless Marina decides to go all stingy (again) with the compensation, it should be straightforward considering it will cost only £4 million to get Lampard and that's £1 million less than what we reportedly received from Juventus for Sarri.

It takes no time atall to fly almost anywhere round Europe. They could easily meet in say Barcelona and Frank could be back home for tea time.

Interesting Zola hasn't joined Sarri at Juve which begs the question was Franco's appointment just tokenism by the board. I'm pretty sure if Sarri said to Zola will you come to Juve with me Franco would have said yes.

Zola will reportedly leave the club after turning down an ambassadorial role. Was clearly brought in to help Sarri to settle in the Premier League etc.

These sorts of rumours doing the rounds do seem to suggest that the club are looking at putting a longer term project in place. It will be intriguing to see if the board have the patience to follow through if this is the route they decide to take.
